Skated the blacks and yellows today.

Blacks are definitely wider all the way. Heel isn't that much wider but the mid foot is.

I think the heel also sits you up a few milimeters higher than the yellows, the plastic nubs are taller, beefier.

The other big difference, to me at least, is that the arch is flatter and the plastic may be more responsive to downward force, meaning it's not seemingly as ridged as the yellow. So in that regard, the blacks feel like the CCM currexsole for low arches. Ymmv.

Ridgid, not ridged.

Ya, rigid, not ridgid.

Just got back from my beer league game in which I wore the yellow for the first time. I was hoping what I felt today at stick and puck, which was more power and better push on strides, and increased feel for edges, would carry over into an actual game. It did.

So I don't think the blacks would be good for a pronator, like me, because I could feel the heel aligned better and consequently the arch was pushed up a bit, helping further to correct pronator. I do t think the blacks would do that as they feel flatter. Like the heel would be aligned, but no pushing up on the arch. Maybe not though. I just know that I'm not going to use the blacks for the simple fAct that you have to pry them out of the skate with a screwdriver and I'm not doing that every day after skating since I like to air everything out.

I need a thin profile but strong support in the arch area (high arch). I was using Sidas custom insoles, but they take up way too much volume. I'm currently using the CCM insoles, but they honestly don't feel like they give much support in my high arches. It's mainly my right foot, which also has a collapsed arch. I also have a bit of an alignment issue due to a hip injury.

I tried Super feet yellow and was a fan.. I don't want an insole with a high heel lift.

The Black have a wider heel cap throughout the length of the product when compared to the Yellow. You shouldn't really be feeling the support from Superfeet in the middle of your foot, because that's not where the high point of your arch is if you were to strip away all the soft tissue. The idea of Superfeet is to limit the amount of motion that's occurring in your heel. If you can keep two joints there closed, the foot won't collapse. If you were considering using/trying a Black, I'd suggest going with the Carbon instead as the heel cap is more narrow when compared to the Black. As someone noted earlier, when trimming, make sure there's some space for it to move (you won't feel it move when you skate).
