Anybody get to try the v9 or v9e yet?

Recommended Posts

Do note that Easton usually has a very square shaft feel and the feel of the stick is different. I've tried both and bc of the shaft alone I can't use the Easton. Love the dt1 though.

The Mako 2 shaft dimensions are now double concave. Did that not carry over to the V9?

From what I've read Easton has gone away from the Kevlar wrap on the V9/VRE. Is this true or am I missing something?

Ive held the rs, rs2, and the mako. The rs sticks were very square. The mako was rounder but and still had a squarer feel imo. Double concave also is a different from how the shoulders of the corners feel.

I'm not sure what csrries over to the new sticks but ever since the first silver synergy Easton always had a boxier feel so I'm assuming these do as well.

I have several of the old original silver Synergys in the basement and their shaft profile actually lines up quite similarly with Bauer's vapor line. Very slight concavity to the walls with more rounded corners than many of today's sticks. Easton has always played around with shaft profiles despite never making a big deal out of it until somewhat recently.

Can't wait to feel one of these in my hand for some reason.

That is true, they went to the Uni-Carbon System that was introduced in the top of the line Mako II last year. So, V9 has the same construction but the V9E is the one getting the Uni update

Trust me when I say I dont want to, but should I now question the overall durability in comparison to the RS?

I had the chance to inspect both the V9 and V9E at my proshop yesterday and those sticks are very light. I was disappointed to see that they no longer had the sharkskin finish on the blades though. That was a major feature for me on both the Mako and the Mako II.

With repect to your opinion, especially bc you have some old synergies on hand,... The feel of what I remember in my hands disagree. I'll admit it's been years since I had a first gen synergy in my hands (lindstrom square pattern btw) and it felt like a 2x4 to me and I played a couple of games with it and my hands always felt like they were struggling to deal with the stick. I took a long break and when I came back I looked at the rs sticks and immediately when I picked it up I hand that same boxy feeling and I stepped away from the stick. The vapors right now are smaller and very rounded. Once again I havnt touched an original synergy in years and I grew a tiny but since then but I always got very different feels from them.

There are many aftermarket items that you can use that I have found just as good.

I get the whole orange is the new color scheme thing, but did they really have to extend it all the way through the blade to almost the toe?

Sigh. Poor cosmetics.

correction; Black krylon clear nonskid does the trick and lastes a while.

I have been looking everywhere for an answer to this question and I haven't been able to find a clear answer...

Will the v9 and v9e be sold with an E7 Iginla pattern availible?

I know there is a new E36 pattern but does it replace the Iginla? or is it just an additional pattern?

I want to know because if there isn't going to be an Iginla pattern in the new line of sticks, I will likely buy a number of Iginla curve- rs2's on clearance while I can.

The e7 will still be availbible on the v9 and v9e, just not the cheaper sticks I think

I have used a V9 for about 9 months now. It is a really good stick overall, and at my size (6'4" and too heavy) still has pop on slappers or wrist shots after months of use. I have the E3 / 85 flex / grip model. Most of my teammates have gone through 2-3 V9Es in that time, and I for sure go into areas that are slash-prone more than they do, so the durability has paid for itself. I also had my best statistical season in several years last season, and that's at 40 and the aforementioned too heavy. My passing is way better than the 2 piece sticks I was using before (broken Mako 1 piece w/ Reebok 20K pro-stock blades), and the shooting is in another world altogether, even with similar grip and shaft flex characteristics.

I finally got to see some jr and int V9's at a shop yesterday, and I was really surprised by the shaft shape. I guess I had assumed or interpreted that it would be the same boxy, slightly concave walled shaft Easton's used on models like the UltraLite original Synergy, Mako, etc., but it reminded me of their old A/G shaft: a little narrower feeling overall but with boxy corners and deeper recessed walls in place of the concave ones. Are the senior sticks like that too? If so I'll be really excited to try it out.
