Is this stick a knockoff?

Recommended Posts

I purchased this Bauer Supreme TotalOne MX3 Hockey stick on eBay for $200. I got it in the mail today and it looked like a repaint or a knock off. The stick is very light but the paint feels like it is very cheap. If you need more pictures just tell me. Thanks.

Warranty sticker doesn't look right. Take a look inside the shaft, there should be a long colored band running the length of the shaft indicating the flex if it is in fact a real MX3.

I would think the sticker that says Nexus MX3 would be an indicator of a fake. Shouldn't it say supreme?

I would suggest opening a claim with Ebay ASAP. Once you have your money back leave negative feedback indicating your stick was fake. You should also be able to report the item as counterfeit directly to Ebay. Do you have a link to the auction you can post?

After reading this thread one thing I'm still confused about... Is that stick actually fake or just a repaint? Sorry I may have misread.

The 7 digit SKU is a Bauer internal SKU.

That SKU belongs to the Nexus 8000 non-grip in 102 flex.

You have a fake stick.

Bauer is not going to repaint a 102 flex nexus as a 87 flex nxg, and then put a sticker on it that says Nexus NXG...

Could they have possibly done in error as part of a pro stock re-paint or whatever it is called.

Mfg errors happen in spite of the best built in quality systems. I know a well known window company that would not label a tiny transom window as a large casement but they did. Had an angry builder!

No errors, no pro stock, just factories in China pumping out composite sticks, ignoring trademark law, and selling direct via Alibaba (bulk B2B) or Aliexpress (direct to consumer - China's Ebay).

My curiousity has gotten the better of me - I've ordered an "MX3" and an "APX2" from Aliexpress to check it out for myself. I'm not expecting anything authentic, but at the same time, I do suspect I'll be getting a couple of sticks comparable or better than anything else at the same price point.

Right, that confused me even more. If the SKU is for a nexus8000, couldn't it be a nexus8000 painted as a supreme? Or is there something else?

Everything is fake about it - the warranty sticker, the SKU...is all done up to trick people into thinking it's an authentic product.

I should've checked at work what the UPC actually pulls up as. I'll do that tomorrow.

I've got about 15 high end composites in various states of condition (OPS and two-piece) in my basement at any given time, with myself and my two boys playing regularly.

If you told me you were hand making high end sticks in your basement and selling for about $100 I'd porbably give that a try too.

I'm not the guy that spends $299 to have the latest and greatest stick for me or my kids. I'll usually pick sticks up when a new model is released and the top end goes from $250+ down to $150-$200. I just ordered another RBZ2 from HockeySupremacy (<$200) for my oldest to get ready for the start of the season.

These China knock-offs will be at least good enough to pound the crap out of in the driveway on the shooting pad, and for some chatter at my beer league games. I'm interested to see how they perform compared to my Widow and DT3.

No different then buying fake concert shirts, Nike shoes, jewelery etc. Some people don't care. That's why they exist. If Walmart could figure out how to sell it, they'd do it too I'd bet.

Fake skates are a thing too? Where would you look on skates to get an idea? I got a pair of mx3 skates that seemed a little suspicious when I got them.

I couldn't care less if you buy Chinese product, just don't reward a company for fraudulently using the brand names of existing companies. Buy a $100 from someone that gives back to the game in some meaningful way and not people that are just using the established name and reputation of someone else in order to make money.

I think you are missing the point. You are helping foster a totally illegal enterprise.

Exactly
