Arch cramping

Recommended Posts

I went skating tonight and may have finally found a combo that works for me. AirPlus plantar fasciitis orthotics and the lacing technique from the video linked above. Loose through the mid foot and then tight at the ankle hinge and locked down at the top. Felt much more stable and could actually find my outside edges consistently. Still some pain but it's definitely just muscle pain rather than the cramping I was having before. Mild burning versus "did somebody just stab me?".

Feel like I'm on my way finally. Did my first c-cuts that actually propelled me down the ice. Before I was treading water because I hadn't figured out how to push. :)

Only problem now is finding something to cover the rivets without adding bulk. The orthotics are only 3/4 length. They're fairly smooth so just skated on the bare rivets tonight but I'd like to find something to cover them so I don't rip my socks up.

Simple. Take the original insoles and place them under the new orthotics. Cut them with a knife were they would align. Then take some duct tape on the bottom and boom you have a new comfy foot bed

reading this as someone who is looking at some new skates due to depth and width problems, so far the only skate to not hurt my feet at mission AC2 skates in EE width which are similar to a bauer supreme shape. thyre wide and deep but some parts, after breaking them in and skating on them a season or two, are too wide. I was going to look into grafs but was on the fence bc all of the dealers are far away, this pushed me more towards trying them out.

with the g5035 your foot doesnt protrude up or push the laces sides out anymore does it?

Whenever I have arch cramping, the vast majority of times it is due to me over tightening the laces through the middle section. I have flat feet and it just drives them into the arch of the boot way too much.

Exactly, same thing with me. Furthermore, If you are pronating I am not sure a low end skate like the 12k will help in any way as usually these offer little support and are not stiff enough. I pronate too and the only thing that helps me be a decent skater is a nice tight fit in a stiff skate.
