toe protection

Recommended Posts

would adding carbon fiber material to the toes of skates give them better protection , I took a slap shot to the toe of my skates , the toe cap didn't break but my big toe did, so I was thinking adding carbon fiber to the toe would make them a little more protective any input would be appreciated

That wouldn't be a bad idea. You just would have to fashion something to the boot for the added protection not to fall off during play. They make the skate fenders,it may be worth getting a set of those then add on.

The subject of toe protection came up a while ago and I did a lot of digging for a product back then. Skate fenders don't protect front on impacts. Carbon fiber isn't a bad idea if you can get it to hold on securely. I always considered buying an old pair of boots about 3 sizes larger than my current ones and cutting the toe cap out and gluing this over my existing ones. Other than this I have not seen anything that protects the toe besides curling them up tight as that slap shot rocket heads your way.....

I had the same kind of idea in mind Vet88 I have skate fenders while they offer great protection your right no toe protection , I have a few pair of old skates laying around and I was going to try and make a toe protector from them , I never thought of finding a bigger pair of skates to use but that does sound like a good idea thanks
