Warrior Covert QR1 Feedback

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering how many of you have now used this stick for some time and are willing to provide feedback on:

Weight
Shaft Balance
Blade Feel
Kickpoint
Overall Durability

I'm based in Sydney Australia and our supply of hockey equipment is overly saturated by either Bauer or Easton. Unfortunately being a niche market we see very little CCM/Reebok, Warrior, Sherwood reaching our shores because our largest supplier of hockey goods happens to be the direct supplier of Bauer & Easton here in Australia.

That being said, I've taken the plunge and ordered 2 Warrior Covert QR1's (85 Flex) W01 Lupul. I'm trying to match my beloved batch of Nexus 1000's (87 Flex) PM9 and I hope I've matched the two as close as possible.

Can anyone confirm that a Warrior W01 is the closest curve to a Bauer PM9?

My friends in Melbourne are now the australian distro for warrior if you after warrior gear. There is also a CCM distro in Melbourne now as well. QR1 is a great stick! I love the feel, weight, balance, etc.... I have a few highend warrior sticks and love them!

Confirmed; they are the same (I use PM9 and W01).

The QR1 is a legit top end stick no doubt. Performance for each player will obviously differ depending on various factors

But IMO:

The shaft balance and overall durability are great on this stick.

Kick point is ultra low and found that I could get shots off a bit quicker (but I normally prefer mid kicking sticks)

The puck feel off the blade is what I could not get used too. Compared to Nexus 8000, dynasty AX1 ST, nXG, all three of these

Other Sticks had significant better puck feel IMO. So the puck feel would be the only thing that i would say needs improvement, but again, this is just in my personal opinion.

Thanks for committing such a huge purchase to us (Warrior) sight unseen. That takes cojones.

Yes, W01 is our PM9 equivalent.

QR has super low kick and has very active (reactive) kick - it will probably feel different from your former stick - but in a good way of course and with a little getting used to.

I have heard Warrior measures lie different than other brands, is there truth to this? I typically like 5.5 or 6 lie sticks

I use Warrior W88, I think it is about a 5.5 lie equivalent in a Bauer, but i years past Warrior called this a 4.0. I am not sure what Warrior is calling it now.

Warrior does not list lies in their catalog or on their sticks any more. The curves similar to those available from other companies will have the same lie.

Well I can chime in about lie a bit. I have 4 warrior sticks, and a few Easton. Basically, the warrior 4.0 lie, is an Easton 5. Warrior 5 lie, is about Easton 5.5.

They don't list lie really anymore for their newer stuff, but I can tell you the W28 is a true 5 lie, and the W03 is about a 5.5. (talking true lie, as in... How Easton lists it, not how Warrior calls it).

I also picked up the QR Pink and will be using it tonight. I know that it's essentially between the Qr1 and the QR pro, but as far as I am concerned, it's essentially the same. So far I can say that it's very light, and feels balanced. Puck feel is very good IMO, on par with my old Diablo, and much better than my DT4 LT. Stiffness is a little stiffer than I expected given the flex. It's slightly stiffer than my Diablo, which is the same exact flex.

Thanks for the feedback team.

Sticks are in transit and should arrive Friday midday.

Miseaujeu, agree, leap of faith but staying positive that this is the start of a wonderful relationship. Who knows, this might start a slow shift from Bauer/Easton down under!

That is true, warrior measured the lie with the heel down. Some manufacturers measure with the middle of the stick down and flat, others measure with the toe down. However, Warrior no longer prints lie numbers on their sticks. W01 will play like other PM9 style blades. Every manufacturer measures differently, so it is hard to put a number on it.
