CCM Skates to Bauer, Which Model? Nexus/Supreme/Vapor?

Recommended Posts

I'm a life time CCM user, and currently in CCM U+12's 8.5E's

I want to switch to Bauer skates, and not sure which model to go with?

I am looking at:

Nexus 8000's

Supreme 190's

Vapor X100's or X900's (to be released)

I tried on Supreme 190's in 8.5EE's and Nexus 8000's in 8.5D, and they both fit good, I liked the Nexus skate better if I had to choose between those two.

I most concerned about the way they will feel on the ice, pitch specifically.

When I got my U+12's the LHS profiled the blades to match my old U+ Pros (Pro-Stock) skates and there wasn't much if any adjustment on the ice.

Just had to get comfortable with the new boot which is to be expected.

I tried a pair of Graf 705's before and the pitch was so akward and it felt like the boots were 1" shorter than my CCM's so I wasn't able to use them.

I like a really stiff skate and I tie them up very tight.

I worried there will be a huge transition to going to a bauer skate, is this something I should be worried about?

Any and all input/info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Are the Nexus skates similar to the Supremes in terms of pitch, Just being geared towards a wider foot, hence why I take a EE in a supreme and D in a nexus?

Thanks for the reply.

I had a closer look at the Nexus skates and you can physically see the distance from the top eyelets to the back of the boot is a greater distance than the supremes and vapors.

When the X900's come out I'll think I'll try a pair on and make a decision between them and the 190's.

How do the Supremes and Vapors compare?

Thanks for all the input and help so far guys.

It's not just width, depth also varies throughout the Bauer line. The Nexus being the deepest with the Vapor being the shallowest.

For example, width wise I could wear a EE Vapor or D Supreme, but neither have the depth I need.
