Repairing collapsed composite blade tenon

Recommended Posts

Hey all quick question that I couldn't find an answer to on the site as of yet. Is there any way to repair a composite blade tenon that collapsed/cracked on the back/skinny part of the tenon? I think I overheated an APX2 blade and may have added too much tape to the inside of the shaft before inserting into a mako tapered shaft. I did get the blade into the shaft, and it seems pretty firmly in there, but I can also hear some cracking in the tenon area when I really flex the stick. I was thinking of perhaps wittling down and fitting in a wood piece into the tenon to give it a bit more rigidity.

Thanks in advance.

mthockeydad has a thread about repairing composite sticks on here. even though he's repairing a different area of the stick the principles would still apply.
