Pro Ice Question

Recommended Posts

I know when a team shares an arena with a pro basketball team or monster trucks come to town they cover the ice and just play on top of it. This picture from the NCAA has me thinking what do they do when the frozen four comes to town or disney on ice? Do they just paint the ice white again and put new logos down or do they take it out completely and remake it?

Scrape ice down to just above logos, repaint white/lines/logos, refill. Then scrape off temp paint, and refill

I really like the idea of the pre-printed supplies that some places use. It's a lot faster than actually hand painting all of the logos and ads.

Fun Fact: Jeremy Jacobs and the Bruins didn't let the NCAA rip up the ice and put their logos on the surface the last time the Frozen Four was in Boston in 2004 and that pissed off the NCAA royally as it is usually a standard stipulation in the bids submitted by the host sites. The Bruins had a playoff game I believe against MTL at the Garden on the Friday between the semis and finals and the Bruins wanted their logo on the ice for it so they told the NCAA no.

Was probably for the best that year; the ice rarely holds up well, especially with 4 practices on a newer ice surface on Wednesday and then two semifinals on Thursday. Usually by the last semi on Thursday the puck is bouncing all over the place if it isn't bouncing around in the first game as well.

Had to dump my semis tix with something else going on Thursday but will be going to the final on Saturday night. Hoping for PC to get their first championship. That would be great.
