HELP......New skates cutting into ankle and lower calf........

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, i just picked up a pair of graf ultra g75's on clearance ( after retiring a pair of graf supra 735's that fit me great ) and these skates fit me soooooooo incredibly well that i was flat out amazed. After baking them and skating a few times at some pick up games, i figured it was time to use them in a game. They felt awesome, fit my feet perfectly and i love how stiff they are......and to be honest, i can feel how much better of a skater these are going to make me. Unfortuantely, i have a big problem ( go figure right? ), on my left foot, there is a portion of the upper back part of the skate that is rubbing the skin at the very bottom of my calf. It rubbed so bad, that it took the skin off and is now scabbing over ( not a blister ). Now, its not the very top of the akillies guard, its kind of where the akillies guard and the top edge ( if there was no akillies guard ) of the boot meet. I looked and there doesnt appear to be any sort of lip or edge that would be rubbing my calf. I cant explain it, but all i know is that the skin was raw and now scabbing over.

On the right foot, about two inches above my ankle bone, i also have a scab from the top edge of the skate boot rubbing and cutting into my skin. I do skate with lightweigt socks, so i do have a little protection, but obviously its not enough for how much rubbing/cutting there is.

I was thinking of just cutting some old tube socks and adding a second layer of sock padding to the area ( lower ankle to lower calf area ), but i read that sometimes the socks just slides out of place.

Are there any prodcuts on the market that are meant for this issue, as i figure i cant be the only one with skates cutting into areas of the foot.

For what its worth, my 735's didnt do this at all........

Ideas?

Thanks for the help !!!!!!!!

that looks good, but its not going to be high enough where the ankle cut is located nor the rubbing on the back part of my lower calf.

Thanks though !

Other option possibly are the swiftwick aspire 5 socks. The bottom is normal sock but the cuff from the ankle up is double thickness compression. I wear them with my goal skates.
