Stx sticks

Recommended Posts

Been a Lacrosse player since college in the 1960's. Was very fortunate to be among the players chosen to use one of the very first "plastic" molded heads made for the sport in the mid1960's, produced by both Brine and STX. Since then, have always used terrific STX Lax sticks and Equipment. STX has been a leading Lacrosse equipment supplier for more than 6 decades. Their current lacrosse heads are among the finest made; durable, accurate, powerful and extremely well respected by college and pro players alike.

For this reason, I am intrigued by their new hockey sticks and equipment lines. Wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to actually use and evaluate their stick lines?

I'm a huge fan of the Stallion 500. Great kick, very consistent and durable as well. If you like mid to lower-mid kick sticks, you can't go wrong with one.

Tried a Stallion at WF. It was an ok stick, but if I'd paid retail for it, I would've felt cheated. Plenty of other sticks deliver better performance for the money.

I was sent a surgeon 500 stick along with a pair of gloves. Long story short I really liked the stick but the blade started going soft after 2 weeks. Maybe mine was part of a bad batch, who knows but I still use it.

Chadd

Similar to Warrior QR1 or DT1LT? Or other low kick Models?

Also, curious about the "high balance point" that is touted in promo advertising. If 4-5 inches are cut, to size it properly for my preference, wonder how that might affect the overall feel and balance?

I cut about that much off the stallion 500 in the x92,which is a lot of blade, and it still had very good balance. Really no difference in balance point from the uncut length to the cut length in my case. I thought it was better than the warrior ax2 or total one nxg by far. Those felt blade heavy after using the stx.

No, it feels like a "normal" tapered stick. Lower kickpoint than something like a nexus and higher than something like a Vapor. The best comparison that I could come up with would be a Dolomite with better kick.

Certainly seems worth a trial. I know there are new STX protective offerings due shortly. Are there also revised Stallion/Surgeon sticks anticipated in the new releases?

Has anyone used the STX 300 level sticks? I'm really intrigued by the Stallion being compared to the original Dolomite.

And, even if you haven't used one, could someone in the know expound on the differences between the 300 and 500? All I see are the differences in type of carbon fiber used in the shaft, and that the 300 seems to have more fiberglass.

I agree with Chadd. The Stallion was the best stick I've used in a while (a couple years). Smooth release, great kick, and the feel was a nice medium between pingy and soft. If they had a P92 clone,I'd still be using them

+1 to what Chad and kovalchuck71 said about the stallion 500. is the best stick I've used since the XN10. since breaking my stallion, I've used an nxg, reebok 20k, pro stock true a5.2, and pro stock reebok SM code and the reebok sm has been the closest to the stallion but still not quite as good.

kovalchuck71 - was the x92 curve not a clone of the p92? I thought they were pretty close
