Mid Curve with no rocker

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a mid curve "Style" curve w/ no rocker?

Have used PM9 modanos (no rocker) my whole life - about a about 2/3 years ago switched to mid curves

YES - with all curves there are pros/cons - I enjoy mid curve benefits of stick handling - saucer passes / going up high in close HOWEVER : what initially thought was a lie issue - realizing now be the rocker.

Now playing a major part of passes being something I need to think about catching / or giving in high paced scenarios.

Maybe the mid curve isn't suited for my style play - and PM9's are where I should still be.

Any help - would be greatly appreciated.

It is going the way of the dodo but the Iginla/P12 pattern might be you're looking for. You can find V9/V9Es on closeout. You might also be able to find some CCM RBZ Stage 2s in the Lecavalier pattern. If you want Bauer's P12, the only way to get that is thru the MyBauer program. If you want a longer blade then the Datsyuk/Tavares pattern from Reebok/CCM could fit your bill.

On the bigger curve side, Sherwood Coffey or Warrior Pacioretty could work. I switched between E4 and Coffey pretty smoothly. Montreal PC (their Paul Coffey curve I was told) was better yet. The Pacioretty looks a lot like the PC, except with a higher lie, more open and less rounded toe rocker. The rest of the blade was flat, but the last couple of inches at the toe were rockered for good pick-and-fling. I miss that curve like none other.

harrow pattern 4 is a good minimal rocker mid to mid toe without being a huge curve. I wish the big boys would make this curve but lower lie and with a slightly open toe. Is that too hard to ask?

The pro stock euro true. A5.2 on hockey monkey in the Lindberg doesn't have much of a rocker on the bottom. It also has a very square heel...like the old jäger curve from koho.

What was the issue you had with rocker?

What does little to no rocker get you over rocker? Shooting, stick handling, passing wise?

Sam,

Let me ask you...What is your problem with a rockered sole? I ask out of curiosity of what people have issues with.

People have asked me about lies on sticks and I tell them...forgetaboutit...Rockered soles typically take the variation of lies into account (somewhat).

Look at Sherwood, they have a ton of flat soled curves. Easton has the Heatley curve which is flatter than the Iginla curve

Got my hands on an RS2 Iginla - and couldn't believe how tiny the blade was. Was like a junior blade size - now I can see why Easton did away with it.

^P88 looks to be no rocker?

P88 has a gentle rocker on it.

I personally do not like too much rocker (such as the Warrior Kopitar) because it causes me to fan on wrist shots and passes, but P88 is perfect for me.

I used to use Iginla and Kovalcuk, the lack of rocker whatsoever makes stickhandling very difficult.

Wheres P106 fit in this picture?

Mid-heel curve like a PM9 but with the twist and loft of a P92. More rocker than the PM9 but less than the P92.

On the topic of the p106, of I'm going between the pm9 and p88 how would this curve feel for me? Would it be a nice in between or something completely different? Also if you're looking for very little rocker I'd probably suggest ccm's p45 if the Kane works well for you.

It plays a lot like a P92 with a little more heel curve

Im interested with p106. How's the lie compared to pm9?

Pretty similar lie, 106 is a little higher, but there is a significant difference in the rocker.

P106 plays around a 5.25 if you want to say P92 is a 5.5 and PM9 is a 5. After years of using the P91 I absolutely love the deeper curve and lower lie on the 106, I wish i tried it sooner. Like most heel curves it doesn't seem to be very popular so i'm hoping Bauer doesn't get rid of it.
