Skates | Easton Mako 2 or Bauer 1X ? or other ?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys ! I received my inserts and I already try them on another pair of skates and damn... It's awesome. Can't wait to try them on the Bauer 1X at the shop to see if it's prefect ! I have quite the same feeling than in the Mako !!!

Anyone has a review "long term" of Bauer 1X skates ?

No but I've been in my Mako II's now since Nov, probably put about 60-70 skates on them. No problems at all, although I do notice the rivets already rusting up a bit, but that's my fault really.

Problem with rivets ? because my old Mako 1st generation is like that now :

I don't want to go back to Easton if they have the same problem with the second version...

Btw, I tried this morning APX 1X with inserts and they fit good but my ankle isn't fixed like in Mako skates. Bauer Suprem MX3 were good this morning but I will try 180.

All skate rivets will rust a bit unless you are absolutely meticulous with maintaining your boot, ie, always take out your footbeds after your game, turn them upside down/dry them manually with a fan. I usually just pull my footbeds out a little bit to let them breathe, and turn them upside down so sweat/water drains out. My Vapors got rusty rivets as well, and nothing ever happened.

If you are REALLY concerned about this, have the rivets removed, and use stainless T nuts and bolts to reattach the holder. I wouldn't let this be a concern when choosing a skate. Choose what fits your foot the best.

Yeah... I think I will try the Suprem 180 and Jetspeed and then if they fit not really as good as the Mako, I will take the Mako 2.

Thanks for your answer z1ggy !
