Bauer HDO Deluxe on a Warrior Krown 360 Installation

Recommended Posts

I've worn the Warrior Krown 360 for two seasons of beer league and have really enjoyed the comfort and adjust-ability that the 4-Play system offers but, I hate wearing a full cage and I've tried a few different visor options all having the same problem... they're too close to my big ole nose! So, what's a fella with a big ass schnoz to do?! Look around the web for reviews and pictures of different visors and find the best option and that option was the Bauer HDO Deluxe, so I picked one up from Hockey Monkey. Got it in yesterday and started to install it onto my Krown only to realize... it's not going to work without a fight. (I also wear an size XL which may have been part of my problem)

What I ended up having to do, and I hope this helps someone out there at some point, was completely remove the front padding from the helmet and use longer t-bolts through the front of the shell. These will allow you to actually push through the front connection point of the Bauer HDO visor and get the screws aligned correctly. As for the temple clips, I had to mess with them a couple times to get the alignment correct on them. You're going to want to use them with the t-bolt in the forward position and as high as you can get them up to make up for the shape of the shell in the front.

It took me nearly an hour of fighting with my Krown and messing with hardware to figure it all out but, the end product looks great and I'm hoping will not only keep me pretty, protect my vision but also keep my big ass nose safe.

Hope this helps someone out there!

It's good you were able to make the HDO Deluxe work, but I think the HDO Pro Clip may have fit easier and should stick out about the same amount. The HDO Deluxe has the vents on top and the top attachment. The HDO Pro Clip only has the side clips and no top vents, but is also CSA and CE certified. The HDO Pro Clip and the Pro Straight (with the side screw connections) are the only two visors I know of that don't have the top connections and are CSA certified - all the other certified models I know of use the top connections (like the Oakley's and Tron's ect.).

So with the HDO Pro Clip you would've had to properly install the side clips like with the HDO Deluxe, but wouldn't have to remove padding and use longer t-bolts through the front because there are no front connections. I have a Pro Clip on my Bauer IMS 7.0 for refereeing and while I've never used the Deluxe, I can tell you it does stick out further than the Tron Visor I'd first put on (the Tron works fine for me for other helmets, but with the IMS 7.0 it did feel too close to my big nose).
