Butt end tape residue

I'm finding the stick tape my LHS has been stocking lately, bleeds out the adhesive and the butt end of my stick constantly gets gummed up. I have been using baby powder to dry it out, but every couple of skates it gets sticky again. Does anyone have a better solution?

You should try using Command Grips from Tacki-Mac, I've been using them for many yrs and they work great.

I use Howies and baby powder with no issues. I have heard of people taping their nob, and then using clear shin tape over it.

Both of those solutions sound awful to me, when there are so many better ways.

I agree about the clear shin pad tape, but what is so awful about taping your nob and rubbing a little baby powder in for a little less grip. Not to be cliche, but pros out there do it. Or do you have something against homies?

I just don't see a reason to do that, unless you're dead set against using anything other than regular stick tape.

Sure there are other options out there none of which I like. I get the perfect amount of grip.

I've been happy with my Tacki-mac grips on my player sticks. I used tape up until 2 years ago and haven't regretted my decision to give the TM a try.

I re tape the blade every game, probably the butt end MAYBE twice a year

Previous post alluded to it, use white tape. The dye in colored tapes accelerates palm wear, as does the tackiness of grip tape.

For any of my sticks with grip I use split tape for a small knob and don't use tape at all.

I do this. Since the tape is clear, you can't even see it. I hate "grippy" stufff, including grip sticks that are all the rage now. So, I even put strips of clear tape on the shaft of nice sticks I get that have grip on them.

If you're going to tape over your nob with clear tape, why bother with cloth tape underneath it? Why not just make the whole buttend out of shinguard tape?
