Gloves/Skates Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm looking for an elite pair of new gloves and skates (preferably retail.) For gloves looking for a short, wide cuff. In skates I'm looking for a comfortable boot and a good turning radius. Let me know if you have any suggestions, thanks!

In order for people to make better suggestions you might want to expand your criteria for gloves. A short wide cuff could describe a lot of gloves - do you prefer a glove that's snug through the fingers and back roll and then opens up at the cuff? If that's what you like then Bauer Vapor, Warrior Covert, CCM Tacks, Easton Stealth CX or Sherwood REKKER are all some options to consider . If you prefer an overall loose feel then something like the Warrior Dynasty, Bauer Nexus, CCM 4-Roll, Eagle Aero Pro 4 Roll, Easton Pro 4 Roll or Sherwood 4 Roll would be more appropriate. Anatomical gloves like the Supreme and Talon gloves likely aren't what you're looking for as they have a tighter fit overall and don't have a wide cuff.

Out of the tapered gloves I'd probably lean toward the Warrior Covert QR1 gloves. They have a short wide cuff, but aren't sloppy through the back roll like 4 rolls. They're also very comfortable and fell broken in when you try them on new. I'm not really a fan of 4 roll gloves - that's just personal preference.

For skates you really want to try on different models and see what fits your feet best, however; in my experience the Easton Mako line is very comfortable after baking (it may seem too tight right out of the box, but really molds well) and has a great turning radius. I'd at least try on the Makos in your search (preferably at a shop that will bake them). If you want to go custom then VH skates are a good option to consider.
