Broken boot - x90's - suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Did you try some 55 flex or similar? I have the same issue with most boots I wear and have used Forsberg pads for many years. A while ago I made up my own version of the 55 flex idea and haven't had any lace bite since and no longer wear any forsberg pads. I made mine out of 3mm thick leather off cuts (leather shops often make belts from this thickness material) and a trip to the shoe repairman for some eyelets. With anti rust eyelets they are rock solid and no durability issues and no lace bite in apx2's. pm me if you want any further info , pictures etc.

Yep I tried all of the gel pads and I tried fashioning my own as in various cushions using everything from felt, leather, and high density foam. It really just comes down in the shape of the booth and position of the eyelets and laces.

I went today and tried on the X 800s and had the exact same issue. They to have only 9 eyelets on a size 7. I tried on the 1X just for shits and giggles, and that fit better but after wearing them around the store for about a half hour there just was too much room in the toolbox. Not so much lengthwise but a little bit in width. And there didn't appear to be less volume overall in the midfoot than I like.

I ended up going with the supreme 190s. He's felt much better in the toolbox and Mid foot. Absolutely zero pinch in the ankle where I would get lace bite. There is obviously a little bit more room in the heel and it's a slightly different fit then I'm used to but out of everything I tried on they were definitely the best. They actually said closer to the X 90s then the current line of vapors

I'm not sure if you got what I meant. 55 flex doesn't sit under the tongue, it's basically a eyelet extender that repositions the top 3 eyelets further out from the boot. By doing this the lace sits level with the top of the ankle instead of cranking down into it ergo no lace bite ever again. It works with every boot so you can choose what fits you best and not worry about volume. However you have found yourself something that works so good luck with them as lace bite is a nasty thing that never goes away.

Oh no, I've never seen that, but that's something to keep in mind for the future. AI also did not like the stiffness of the X1 or the X900. The 800 was less stiff for whatever reason but still more than I like.

Sadly it looks like 55 flex has closed down but if you ever need something like this and want to know more flick me a message. Works for ice and inline.
