Bearings issue

Recommended Posts

I am noticing after a game some times my wheels rattle in the chassis. If I take the wheels off and check the bearings sometimes they snap in a little closer. Is there any reason for this or should I tighten the bolts holding the wheels in?

Could be a number of things. If you push the bearings in do they sit flush with the outer surface of the wheel or just under it. If just under it then the wheel pour could be faulty (to much recess for the bearing) causing the bearing to float in the wheel. I've had wheels where there wasn't enough recess and the bearing sat proud of the wheel. You may want to try different wheels in place of the ones that seem loose.

If you pop a bearing out you can check if the spacers are installed. Whilst tightening may help, if the bearings are sitting recessed in the wheel then the wheel may end up rubbing on the chassis.

I read somewhere once that removing all wheels and then putting them back in but starting with the middle two and working outwards can potentially "spread the pressure evenly" and eliminate gaps.

I suspect it was largely rubbish but couldn't hurt to try.

Vet88s reply is the most likely.

I've got a set of yellow envys that don't have quite enough recess, but it's just one of those things that can happen with mass production.
