Curve compromise?

Recommended Posts

I think I'm being too picky and OCDish.

Yeah, it sounds like it.

I had the p14 before. I ditched it cuz you could only get it in Bauer and warrior.

At least you had two options, that's better than with some curves.

I've used p92 and p92 lie 5. Good for shooting but with the puck it would flip over the middle of the blade on me. I guess because it's a deeper mid curve that opens up in the middle.

That sounds like a relatively easy adjustment to make on your part. Sticking with a curve for a while would help resolve issues like this.

P28 is good cuz it's not so open in the middle. Opens up toward toe which gives you a flatter heel/mid area. But it's almost too open for me. Plus I think I want more blade on the ice.

"Almost too open" means that it isn't too open. It's also a lot flatter on the bottom than the P92 and you don't mention the rocker being a problem there.

So the p46 or p45/38 may be a good option. But then I'm only left with CCM sticks.

If it works, why would that matter? You ruled out P14 because it was Bauer and Warrior and now ruling out P45/P38 because it is CCM. Are you only looking for something from Easton?

So true. I came home and had to make sure all my parts are still here.

Thanks for the reality check. Kind of disappointed with myself. When I started playing a few years ago the whole point was to have a healthy outlet to relieve stress, get out of the house and get some exercise. I should just be going out to play and enjoying myself not stressing about lies and rockers and kick points and so on. I'll wrap this up more so to learn.

as far as shooting with the w28 curve, you're right. when I sail it high or wide, it's me. I do think I'd like a little more blade on the ice for catching the puck, stick handling etc. I've been using this curve for a while and I still have the puck go under the toe (sort of). but probably things I'm doing. I'm only 5'8 with my stick cut to my upper lip in shoes. even with a lie 5 p88, p28 it seems like the toe is sort of up off the ice. might need to cut even shorter. I'll experiment. Think I may give the p46 bergeron a try. Seems like that's the consensus here.......along with me being like a woman.

one more thing. how would i know if the rocker was an issue?

Thanks!

With a rockered or dual-lie blade like that, the toe is supposed to be off the ice until you use it for its higher lie closer to your body for handling pucks in your feet or shooting. You can't have the length of the stick accommodate the lower and higher parts of the blade for the same arm angle. They just go in different directions.

Just go to the store, find a curve you think you like, buy it there or online. See what you do or don't like about it. Adjust from there. All this hypothetical crap, is just that, crap.
