  1. I was thinking about making the switch to Step Steel. I have LS2 steel in my Bauer Vaper 7.0LE skates that is getting fairly low. I really like the radius that comes on the steel from bauer and I wouldn't be against trying a different radius but if LS3 is the "copy" of Step and comes with the same radius as LS2. Would that be my best bet? Without a lot of back and forth if I don't like the Step radius?
  2. I have had two different prostocks repaired and last but they've broke in completely different spots. Maybe I've just been lucky.
  3. Bought this on Ebay yesterday for $48. I know it's been repaired but I have used a few broken twigs and I dont mind them after! Can't wait to get it.
  4. Skate: Bauer Vapor X 7.0 LE. Ht./Wt.: 5' 9 155 lbs. Play Level: A level adult league. Primary position is Center or Wing. Occassional Defense on lower levels Previous skates worn: Vapor XXXX 8.5 EE and Vapor XXII 9 D Time Frame - Christmas 2011 - Present Fit (9.5/10) I like the fit of the Vapor Skate out of the box unbaked the best. APX was out of my price range. Depth- These fit my foot to a T and I dont have any depth issues. Width- I came from a EE skate due to a deal I got from a friend. I had my foot measured and went with the D skate for these. Only issue is on my right foot it is a little tight near the toe box. And only bothers me occassionally. Toe Cap- No problems here. Nice and roomy and not crampped. Toes touch the end while sitting but I dont notice any issues while skating. Comfort- Skates took a few games to truly get comfortable and I wouldn't be against having them baked again to get them dialed in even more. Blade/Holder (10/10) Perfect combo of LS2 and LS2 steel. Weight (9/10) Nice and light but not too light that they feel cheap. Protection (10/10) Plenty of protection from taking shots to the skate. Tongues provide good lace bite protection but I wish they were a little more padded. Durability (9/10) The boot itself I think is the most durable skate I've worn yet. I tie my laces around my tendon guard so that flexs a bit more than I'd prefer but that's the nature of how I tie my skates. My liner is starting to show wear from tucking my tongues under my shin pads and I prefer the Clarino Liner personally. No rivets broken. Holders have quite a few dings and cuts but still strong. The steel has "clicked" since day one and is tight in the holder so I am not sure if there is an issue with the whole holder/steel combo but it doesn't seem to effect my skating. Performance (9/10) I always felt like I could use a stiffer skate to give me a jump in my game. Once I got through adjusting to these skates, I was more confident when stopping and making tight turns. I love these skates. I'd like to try the APX and see if I can tell a difference between the two but I am extremely happy with the skate from the Vapor XXXX. Final Words I have always preferred a black skate. I really liked the X60 LE skate. Those were awesome but I couldn't afford them at the time. When they came out with these X 7.0 LE's in that black look, I wasn't going to let them pass me by. The skate is stiff, strong, protective and lightweight. It has everything you need in a high end skate. If the Vapor Boot fits your foot, this is a solid pick up. They are worth the money.
  5. 2011 Warrior Dolomite DD: Used for 3 months and counting, about 15 games. Player Info: 5' 9" - 150 lbs - Center or Wing. Occassional Defense in lower leagues. Intro: I usually try and stock up on Pro Stock sticks during the summer at the Capitals Equipment Sale but I have been dying to try a Warrior stick and this Gionta toe curve. So I bought two of these 75 flex Warrior Dolomite DD sticks on Clearance from Hockey Monkey. Looks: I can't stand the look of the flashy or bright silver/white sticks. This stick managed to blend the two and get Warriors name across and still have a dark look to the lower half. Plus the Orange and Black match my team's colors. 10/10 Weight/balance: Not the lightest stick I own but for a retail stick it feels good. I dont mind a stick that has a little weight behind it. I cut it down about 6 inches and as I do for any stick, I added a 1.5" wood plug. I didn't like how the stick felt in my hands intitially but it has grown on me and it feels good to me now. 8/10 Curve/Blade: This curve is awesome. I love it. I fell in love with Alex Semin's big toe curve a couple years ago. This is not quite the same but similar and I can now flex the stick and really shoot well. The blade feel was super pingy. Felt cheap to me and I had to overlap my tape a second time to add some dampening to the blade, which of course adds a significant amount of weight but it improves the feel to me, imo. ( I may just be spoiled by the prostock selection I have had luck finding the past three years). I bought two of these sticks and alternated them. After a about 6 weeks on the of blades is "creaking" and one is still solid. 7/10 Durability: So far after 15 games one stick is still practically brand new. Few chips and sratches but it kicks hard and the blade is stiff. The other stick has a deterioating blade and the shaft is in great shape. Blade leaves something to be desired. 9/10 Conclusion: I am pleasantly surprised with these Warriors. I'm interested in trying some of their new sticks as they seem to have strenthened the blade. I am curious if this removes some of the "pingy" feel from it or if it feels similar. I am going to try another Warrior in the future for sure. Hopefully this Gionta curve will stick around. I know they are limiting it on the Covert and Dynasty lineups. 8/10
  6. Background – 5’ 9” – 155 lbs. On Ice – 1-3 times a week. Warrior Franchise Elbow Pads – Sr Small May 2012 - Present Let’s face it, your wrists, and lower forearms can take a serious beating in Adult League Hockey, or any level of hockey period. The hacks, slashes, and hooks can take a toll on you. Finding the right protection for those of us not able to find some Jofa Pro Stock at a reasonable price can be never ending. I noticed that the Warrior Franchise Elbows were on clearance at my LHS. Uprgrading from my Nike Bauer Vapor 25’s, I believe are the most protective elbows you can find outside of the Pro Stock world. Fit Being a closeout item, sizing was tough to find. I stuck with a Sr. Small size and they fit in the elbow and forearm well but still leave enough of the wrist area exposed to make me think that Sr Medium would fit better. I think a Sr. Medium would be a little too loose but might offer the added protection at the wrist. LOVE the gel grip in the elbow cup as with my Bauer base gear it doesn’t move until I take it off. 9/10 Protection I have played roughly 40 games now in these pads and they have taken a few slashes to the arm and falls that I landed directly on my elbows. No bruising or pain. Perfect protection where provided. 10/10 Weight These elbow pads have a bit more bulk to them than my older NB Vapor 25’s but are super light and from right out of the bag they’re awesome. No extra weight noticed and no break in time needed. 10/10 Durability surprisingly, the durability is the biggest flaw I have with these elbow pads. I noticed that after about 2 games the stitching on the elbow wrap was coming out. It does not affect anything with the pad and they stay glued to your elbow until they’re removed, maybe just bad thread? After 6 months stitching is still holding strong. Could be repaired but not required. 8/10 Conclusion I love these Elbow Pads. I was interested in checking out the Nexus 1000 Elbow Pads when they came out but with the lowered price on the Clearance rack, these seemed like a no brainer. They fit great with any glove I wear, had no break in period and offer more protection at no additional weight or mobility issues. The 'Silver Shield' keeps the pad dry throughout the game/day. Hopefully, they're not discontinuing these pads because they are unbeatable IMO at the retail level. Overall 9.25/10
  7. Ovi curve Prostock One95 View of all my Pro Stock sticks. All Curves of the above Pro Stocks. My Vapor X7.0 LE's I got for Xmas.(a little late showing these off) I love these skates. I went from a Vapor XXXX's to these and it took a few weeks to adjust but I am in love. And last but not least my Mike Green Franchises
  8. Kinda looks like my Mike Green Easton ST I have. Which I love.
  9. Yup, all because of his laces, visor and holders. Someone should inform him soon!!!
  10. My new Hershey Bear's Prostock gloves. Not sure how i like them compared to a four roll design yet. Edit- here is the rest of my collection. Retail R8's and S3 (terrible gloves IMO) and Prostock Capitals Rbk 4 rolls, my favorite.
  11. What the hell is that thing Adam?! lol
  12. wow thats pretty freaking cool that Combat is doing that! I do have a need for a single blade maybe ill buy one of theirs and test to see the durability and feel and then go from there!
  13. I was thinking about having the shaft repaired... thru a guy on here its 40 bucks + shipping.. i think it broke high enough that it wont mess w/ the flex.. plus its already stiff as hell... no wonder Semin shoots so hard and fast.. (see what i did there :P) I'd make customs if i could find smaller quantities of carbon fiber blades.. but seems from reading here that wood is pretty much the only way to go. I'm going to be waiting for the equipment sale again this summer/fall.... and ill be buying max quantity of them.. may be willing to work some deals if i ever make it to a "member +" lol
  14. Can anyone give me tips on how to post pictures? lol.. i read the how to thread.. obviously missing a step somewhere! Lets see if this works..
