I've got one of the early pairs and I've had to fix a few things. Tongue rivet came out and both tendon guards came loose. Not a big deal to me. They don't look super polished but again I don't care. What matters to me is no pain at all. In fact they are comfortable. I'll even sit after the game having a beer and forget that my skates are still on. I will be ordering one of the newer pairs soon. As for the box... I just throw it away anyway.

Did you have to cut a hole in the back or remove the leather? I'm taking to a skate shop in Los Angeles so hopefully they will know what to do.

Any chance you've posted that video? I need to replace both of mine.

Over the past few years I've had 5 different skates from different manufactures trying to find a skate that doesn't hurt me. All of them looked great. All of the hurt like hell. My VH skates feel amazing. For me, like wearing tight slippers. I personally like the imperfect look of them but they do have the problems mentioned. But no pain. I don't even think about my skates anymore. So as far as I'm concerned, I could care less about these small issues compared to the overall fit and performance I am getting from the skates.

For my custom pair I sent in the tracings while standing and the measurements asked for. I also sent in pictures of my feet from all angles. The skates are fantastic. Solved the pain problems I've had for a long time.

Given how much you pay for them why not just wait the 24 hours? I did with mine.

When I ordered mine, (emailed the tracings) Scott got back to me the same day. He told me he would be sending me an invoice for paypal payment. After I sent payment, skates shipped 8 days later. Shipping took about a week because of customs. So about 2 weeks to get mine. Scott stands by his product and wants you to be happy with the skates. I am completely happy with mine.

Coffeebreak - For me the skates almost feel like I could skate in them without laces. I just cinch up the laces and my foot in completely locked in. No slippage. The skates are also molded around my foot tracings and you can see where the skates have been molded in the area where I get pain. So this might help with your wide forefoot.

I just got a pair of these skates and have skated one stick time on them. I'll play on them tomorrow. So far they are amazing. Very different feel in that they really mold to and wrap around your foot. Hard to explain. I've always had a lot of pain from my skates. On the outside of both feet. From Daoust to Reebok to Bauer. Actually several different Bauer skates. I've had each punched where I have pain but nothing every helped much. My current, before now, skates are Bauer Nexus 800. Problem is as I went into wider and wider skates I would end up in a skate with too much slop and still had the pain. I know I only have one skate on these skates but no pain at all. I didn't even think about my feet. Except how locked in I was in the skates. You don't even have to tie your skates very tight as they have so much wrap and are so form fitted. I went with the custom skates and you can see how they are molded around my foot on the outside. I know it's early but I can't be happier. To not skate with pain makes everything so much better. They are expensive but I've spent a lot more on many skates trying to solve my problem. Also Scott was very nice and very knowledgeable. Even spoke with him on the phone. If you are having problems with your current skates these are worth a look. I'm happy to answer any questions.

Thanks Chadd. I know a skate that is too wide could be worse than too narrow. It's tough for me to know how to fix the pain but I'm getting better at it. I'll take your suggestion and spend a lot of time at the store. I think I didn't stand in my skates enough in the past.

I wasn't sure if I should put this here but it pertains to the Mako skate so.... I've always had pain on the outside of my right foot. Always worn a D width. I now am wearing Nexus 800 which I know are more like an EE but I still have the pain. So I'm not sure width is the issue. I'm very interested in the Makos. My question is given how much they mold what is the best indicator that you need a D vs an EE? When trying them on if they feel a little tight is that ok because they will stretch? I don't think I have particularlly wide feet as all my shoes fit just fine. I have a problem that when I try skates on they usually feel pretty good. I just don't want to get an expensive skate just to find out that I needed a different width. I'm sure someone will suggest to go to a experienced skate fitter but I'm in So. California and that hasn't happened for me yet. Thanks
