  1. Probably more of a question, maybe more akin to a survey to see who else has had this issue.
  2. Previous couple of pairs (Easton and STX) I’m in a 15”, looking at CCMs and I might need to move into a 16”. Only piece of equipment I can think of where I’m not consistently in the same size.
  3. For reference L to R Benn Pro stock, P28, P14
  4. Gear arrived today so I was only able to try it on. The shin pads feel really sturdy but not bulky. The calf wrap and the 360 strap really keep the pad in place. So far the only issue I see is the top flap above the knee is fairly rigid. When I bent my knees I notice the flap doesn’t tuck back in under the leg openings of my pants. There’s also a fairly shallow kneecap donut hole compared to other pads I’ve used. I don’t have any doubts about them being protective enough, but I have a beer league playoff game tomorrow night and might not want to use them in a “high stakes” game where I’m not 100% comfortable/familiar with them to use them just yet. The shoulder pads seem to fit well, I do kind of like how the bicep straps are fixed to the pad rather than with removable with Velcro, it will take a little bit of getting used to putting them on and off.
  5. Took advantage of their 50% sale this past week, getting the RX3 shins and RX3.1 shoulders, hoping I’ve found a good replacement for my aging Easton gear.
  6. ***SOLD ELSEWHERE***
  7. Alpha Pics Used P28 Standard Senior Length Alpha QX 80 flex $75 shipped to US, extra to Canada Alpha DX 75 flex, $85 shipped to US extra to Canada SOLD
  8. Sticks: Easton Ultralite, I started playing right when there was the mix of wood, aluminum and graphite and the Ultralite just seemed miles better than everything I had tried to that point. Runner up would be the Bauer Supreme Total One. After taking a long break from hockey and getting back into gear it was the first high end one piece I used, having tried a few midrange sticks and this just seemed like a huge leap. Honestly in the 10 or so years since then I can’t say the tech has advanced that much more aside from shedding weight and I’ve tried a ton of sticks from the major manufacturers in that time. Skates: Gotta go with the True customs as well. Best mix of more recent tech but the customized sizing that I need. Gloves: Easton GX4000. I had the GX9500 and my god were they heavy and hot as hell. These were so much lighter and easier to wear for longer periods.

  10. Update: Deeper ROH blades definitely helped. Definitely felt more comfortable with the extra bite and felt more balanced.
  11. Could be, it’s a good thing they include the extra set of steel so I can use one as a test case to find the right hollow/profile. These are definitely the right type of boot so I want to explore all my options with the steel.
  12. Thanks for the advice all. I think my course of action is to do the following: 1. Try the deeper cut on the 2nd pair of Shift steel out 2. If that doesn’t work then get one set of the Shift steel profiled to match the last pair of skates I was comfortable with (Tuuk Black Steel) 3. If that doesn’t work then get the Tuuk Black Steel mounted
  13. I see, do you know what the profiles would be for the Step Shift steel vs the Tuuk black steel? Might it be an option to get one of the sets of Shift steel profiled to match the black steel if I still am having issues with adjusting to the Shift steel? Or are the Shift holders specifically designed for one type of steel profile?
  14. Yeah the lower cut is taking some time to get used to. I wouldn’t say my feet feel less supported, because I certainly know there’s no negative space in them. I guess I just really have to adjust to the amount of ankle bend that these skates offer. Coming from the stiff composite boots of the last few years it’s been a challenge.
