  1. slapper during warmups skating the puck out looking to pass that's my slapper hitting the net hard enough to throw the towel the goalie put on his cage up in the air :) that's me sporting a playoff beard
  2. last year's vapor XXXX SE shaft still has the tapered system, at least per hockeymonkey.eu http://www.hockeymonkey.eu/composite-shaft...e-sr-p-531.aspx You are right regarding Reebok (and CCM). They are offering a 10k standard shaft as well as a U+ standard shaft without offering any tapered versions at all. The market over here for tapered systems is drying up. Most people don't even know what it is supposed to be. Prices on items ordered through LHS are also through the roof on tapered stuff (TPS, Easton and Warrior are available).
  3. I find the level comparison at the end of each chapter very nicely done and helpful, especially for the models below the topline stuff. Another thing thats quite interesting is that the euro x:60 shaft version is a standard shaft system instead of being tapered.
  4. Lead a really good practice yesterday which made me remember why it is fun to be there and talk hockey with your team. People listening, trying and giving a lot of effort in every single drill on a beer league team is something special. And to top it off our guys even applied the newly won knowledge in the scrimmage at the end. Coaching can be great sometimes.
  5. The new AIC is getting rave reviews all over the web. Check My Brain is one of my favorites, but they are a lot of good tunes on the record. It is well worth checking out if you like AIC. And hey! It has Elton John on it playing piano :P
  6. Bauer Supreme One95 Flex: 87 Curve: PM9 stick'um grip Height: 6'2" Weight: 210 Postition: D level of play: Beer league previous sticks used: one90, dolomite 2piece, AK27+one95 blade Time-frame of use: Since July Aesthetics: The Stick'um version comes in a silver and blue finish kinda reminding the user of the one90 legacy. Nothing special, not flashy or overly noticeable. Nobody on my team looked twice at it or asked about it. I like it since it puts the focus on the important thing: Its performance. 9/10 Weight and Balance: The stick feels nicely balanced just like the one90. In this regard they feel very much alike. Not the lightest stick around but a near perfect balance. It is at the point where I dont notice the weight positively or negatively on the ice which is exactly what I want out of a stick. 10/10 Blade: Excellent blade no questions asked. Stiff and durable with perfect control on shots. I also use a few one95 blades in various shafts and they have performed exceptionally. 10/10 Shaft/Flex: The shaft has a slight concave feel to it, not bulky and not too thin. The dolomite shaft for example felt flimsier in my hands which might be superstition but that was the feeling I got. The flex is in my opinion softer than one is used to. My 87 flex stick with a 2" plug feels very whippy. Since I actually like this very much I have retired my 100 flex sticks. However I would suggest to anyone thinking about buying this stick to try out the different flex sticks in the shop if you can. 9.5/10 Stickhandling and Passing: Puck feel with this stick is amazing. As someone who has just started playing again recently (2 years ago) with composite sticks and has little experience with wood twigs this stick is a whole new game. My stickhandling is nothing short of embarassing so its not worth mentioning here, but my passing game really improved. I can feel the puck much better on my blade thus allowing me to actually keep my head up when passing. I can pass exactly where I want the puck to go which often may not be where it should go but thats a different story alltogether...where I have problems is catching passes. However I blame this on the softer flex and my spotty technique at receiving hard passes. Frequently they slip below my blade as if I am not able to apply enough pressure to the ice due to it being so whippy. 9/10 Shooting: I like shooting and pride myself with a decent shot for the level I play at. Shooting is great with the whippy stick no questions asked. Especially wristers and snapshots are working great due to the low flex. Slappers are great, but my technique is not good enough to really use them often in games. I love to rip low wind up one timers though, never worked as well as it does with this twig. 10/10 Durability: after about 15 icetimes it is holding up great. The blade is spotless, no chips or anything. The finish is holding up much better than it did on the one90. My feeling is that this stick has a lot of life left in it still. No complaints at all about durability, but the final verdict will be given in a few months. 10/10 (after 1 month of use) Conclusion: Superb stick with excellent puck feel for great passing and shooting. Somewhat whippier than the labeled flex so be careful about that. Durable yet still easily light enough with one90 like balance. Highly recommended! 9.5/10
  7. 8. hell yeah! Good time old school prog though I lost interest after Neal Morse left. The new stuff just doesnt have the magic anymore. But up to V every record is fantastic 70s prog done new.
  9. Musical genius? I'm going to have to disagree on that one. A friend of mine was a huge fan of theirs in the early 90s and I saw them a couple times. They were terrible live and Patton was horrendous. I may have just seen them on off nights, but most of the live videos weren't all that impressive. I truly think he is a musical genius but to each his own. Faith No More is an acquired taste, for most of the people I know its either you love them or hate them. You might not be familiar with most of his side projects where he is much more creative such as Mr Bungle and Peeping Tom, his solo work is also very good. The reunion shows have all been very very good and highly appraised. I saw them myself three times (twice before the split, once just a few weeks ago) and have to agree with the reviews. Highly energetic and musically very solid on stage. Patton is a fantastic singer imo. The youtube videos on their recent shows can contest to that, some pro shots are available (for example their Download show). Another band that deserves a plug is Porcupine Tree. Classic floydish progrock in the early days and nowadays a fusion between prog metal riffs and odd rhythm patterns and floyidish space trips. Good stuff. http://www.myspace.com/porcupinetree If you are more into progmetal then Mastodon is highly recommended. Think it hs been mentioned here already. They are awesome. http://www.myspace.com/mastodon Last but not least Id like to mention Oceansize in this context. A mix between Alternative rock and prog metal, probably not very well known outside England/Europe. http://www.myspace.com/oceansizeuk
  10. for a standard shaft I really like it. It is extremely light, a lot lighter than the AK27 for example. The shape of the shaft is boxy and definetly for big hands which is an advantage for me. I played it a lot last season and it goes very well with the one95 blade, excellent balance. Best standard shaft I have played with. I wish they would make tapered shafts as I would pick some up without thinking twice. Fischer is only making sticks for the european market under the Fischer label. I hear they are producing sticks for some known companies though that those companies then paint up with their design. If you want to know more about their hockey stuff look here: http://www.fischersports.com/en/pages.php?page_id=1328 http://www.fischersports.com/en/products_h...hp?parent=40167 Fischer is mostly known for their ski and tennis products.
  11. my little stick collection: Fischer Vacuum GL Grip shaft (90flex) + one95 pm9 blade Dolo Grip shaft + dolo HD blade fedorov lie 4 (new arrival) one95 stickum (new arrival) one80 shaft + some wood blade for inline ak27 grip shaft + one95 p88 blade one90 teststick p88 102flex really like the one95 stick in my hands, cant wait to try it out on the ice. I hope it is not too soft (87 with about 2" of extension put in) for me.
