  1. I can probably post some pics. Not sure if I'm allowed to though prior to release. Can't see why not as catalogue pic is out there and they are being worn by pros. If JR could chime in and let me know I'll post a few.
  2. Held a pair in my hand side by side with the originals. They open up more at top. From the rear they look more V shaped than originals that were more parallel ( l l ). It's not too much to hurt fit but I think those with "bumps" will be happy. Tongue is a little more padded as well. Look is unreal. Easton is gonna sell a bunch of these. As a side my kid has been in Makos for about a month, coming out of APX2s. His skating is markedly improved, both speed and transitions. I'm sold on this design. He is the third player on his team with them and I'm sure there will be more next year.
  3. My 12 yr old just made the switch to Makos from APX2s. His Bauers were getting small so I brought him in to size up for new ones. While waiting for APXs in oven dude helping us lets him try on a pair of Makos. My son says they r extremely comfortable and wants to try them. Now i'm quite happy with his skating in his present wheels (AAA major Peewee) as he is an above average skater. Guy helping us says he has a pair he's hardly worn in my son's size he can try. We end up leaving with both pair with the understanding he won't wear new APX until he's tried the Eastons. You know the rest of the story. His footwork was improved within minutes and the pitch did not seem to bother him at all. He had super feet in bauers. Maybe they made the pitch feel similar. He skated twice in makos and then played a game in his old skates. He said it felt like he was skating in gravel compared to the eastons. Needless to say we've returned the new Bauers and got a smoking deal on a slightly used pair of makos. Kids happy and I saved over $600. I think as more people give these skates a try their popularity will soar.
  4. nothins more important in a highend skate then how far it can take us before we have to work again! That's the truth! I'm 38 but they make me feel 34 again. lol
  5. Skated in them again this morning. I can't believe how light these things feel. Even better today. I am very happy with this skate. Not sure if my hockey shop put the FBV sharpening on them or not, but I was fooling around and with one push I covered the width of an Olympic size surface gliding on one skate. Only the boards stopped me. I never noticed that type of glide in a skate before. If your thinking about these skates and they fit...GET THEM. You won't be disappointed.
  6. Yes I got them from Skater's Edge. Best Hockey shop anywhere! As for trade in I'm not sure. They did have a wall of used skates during the winter, so probably. Give em a call.
  7. They are definately angled forward at the back of the boot where the 40's were straight up at a 90 degree. This may help the heel lock. By the way, you can't feel it on the ice- you can stand up straight like in the 40's.
  8. They are cool. You'd better get em.
  9. Very similar with a little more volume around the ankle. More flexible. Toe box feels the same and the ankle padding grabs your heel better. Definately 1 notch up from xxxx's.
  10. Skated on them this AM. Definately lighter and more comfortable. There is more forward flex. I am able to tie laces to the top. The heel lock is better as well. After an hour and a half skating with the 40's I would of had to retie as the heel lift was that distracting. Not so here. I think it is the new liner that keeps your foot in place more than the ankle padding. There is zero break in required at this point. They felt great from the start. I think anyone on 40's will like these. That being said, if you have 40's and no heel lift issues no need to rush out and change if your 40's are still in good shape. The 60's are a definate improvement on an already great skate. I think this liner will be the future in skates. It doesn't feel wet like the clarino liner after a hard skate. Bauer has got their act together when it comes to skates. Between these and the 95's you have probably the two best skates on the market and should fit most people between them. Can't wait to use them tomorrow. :D
  11. Tell him not to worry. I don't think the heel is really any smaller. It's just that the padding is thicker and it seems to lock the heel better in the way the Easton stealth line does with the ankle padding. If the 40's fit him I can't see him having any issues with these. Tell him to get the newer style. It looks wicked.
  12. I had a X60 and a One95 on at the same time today. The 95 felt slightly stiffer but was very nice. It is not as light as the 60 but the heel lock seemed great. Unfortunately the toe box felt too wide and sloppy for my feet. It was a toss up though. I think some guys who could only fit the one 95 may be able to use the 60s. Both seem like awesome skates. Asfar as stiffness goes, I had to skip the top eyelet on my 40's to skate right (enough forward flexion). I don't think I'll need to do that on the 60's, but I'll know for sure tomorrow as I'll be on the ice at 8 am. I will report back.
  13. I just picked up a pair of X60's. Cost was $650.00 CAN but he said they will list for $699. They are quite comfortable right off - alot like the 40's. They definately have more volume around the top 3 lace holes while the top of the foot area and the toe box seem very similar to the 40's. I noticed significantly better heel lock (not sure if it's the heel pocket or the new hydramax liner that makes it feel that way) so I decided to try these. I really loved the 40's but my heel was slipping and I was starting to get Haglunds. Hopefully these bad boys will work out better. If not I see some one 75's in my future. Someone on this site said he thought they were more stiff than the 40's. I have to disagree. The 40's were bricks and these seem more close to the XXX's. I'll give them a skate tomorrow morning and post a review if anyone is interested.
