CCM Pro Tacks

Its a lot of things: it's about the fit (not everyone's foot is shaped like a narrow carrot), its about the look (not lined with mirrors and bright yellow highlights), its about the durability without sacrificing performance.

The Tack line was just a rock solid, well performing, comfortable, durable skate that didn't have to jump up and down and scream "Look at my trust-fund baby bling-bling skates" to make you feel good about your purchase.

some im guessing u love those new x60's Ogie

Its fuy how these days its hard to find a regular looking boot.

Kunal theres always the Grafs. I like the G35 fit in wide. Fits pretty close. The words fear come to mind though if I was standing infront of someone with a hard slapper. Def not the most protective skate in the world. going to look into some of the other boots next time around.

if they were to bring back the tacks line, I wonder if they would strip it down to the basics, like the ankle lock stripe would turn into something actually practical and no lace locks, I liked them better when they were just that simple white piece and not the whole ankle wrap thing. If they did that and brought back some sort of stitching to the boot or something to strengthen it and better tendon guards, something more along the lines of one95's or the new flexlites. Of course I wouldn't want to see anything but black skates, maybe the white piece could be incorporated into whole boot, negating the need for a white stripe. Needless to say I want a traditional looking skate with the tacks fit and name. Let's start writing letters, like in the old days!

Great points. This brings me back to my initial comments in this thread: Let's design a skate via photoshop and keep refining it, then send it to CCM.

There are some talented photoshop people on this site. Just need someone to get a shell started.

Wide, flat, high volume feet. With a a narrow heel which really would lock in your heal if that is your foot type.

That exactly why i loved my Tacks. I have low volume feet but a really narrow heel and wider forefoot. Also the heel lock on the Tacks was amazing. Just out of curiosity do any modern skates have a similar fit? Maybe the vapors???

Off-topic but are E-pro's naturally forward pitched ? Reason I ask is because with my Vectors and Superfeet I feel like I'm on my toes a Lot and almost falling over sometimes.

Stumbled upon this site w/ a few different Tack models and sizes for sale. I bet if you call them and make a reasonable offer they'd take it.

http://www.gunzos.com/CCM-Pro-Tack-c79.html

Only one SR size available-6E

True but if you check the other Tacks they have, there are a few more adult sizes, sorry they don't have yours though...

I agree, Tacks have an amazing ability to lock in the heel, and I have a narrow heel.

I play roller but I just switched my Sprung chassis back to my 652 Tacks boots. I have tried other skates and most recently a pair of Vector 8.0's. At first they felt good but I just can't get used to the fit. Even with the stiffness of the Vector boot I still just didn't feel that I had the ankle support I get from the Tacks. I have had 4 pairs total. My first pair were 755 Kevlar with Sure-Grip chassis and then a pair of 552's converted with Red Star chassis and now I have 655's with Sprungs and 652's with Sprungs but I would still like to find some higher end Tacks in a 9.5D.

The Tacks heel lock really was solid, at least for me. And I actually went new skate shopping last week and searched around and read that the RBK's fit very similar to the Tacks. I actually went to the store with the intention of buying Vapor's but they didn't fit my foot well at all, too narrow all the way through which made my forefoot uncomfortable. Then the guy suggested the RBK's after I told him my love for my old Tacks. Turns out the RBK's fit really really well. I ended up purchasing the 5k's as a result. They are really comfortable yet snug. The only thing I would say is that the heel lock isn't as good as I remember my Tacks being and I also got two blisters on the inside of both heels. But aside from that the rest of the boot is really comfortable and the heel lock is as close as I could get to the Tacks. Highly recommend them for anyone interested in a similar fitting skate...

The RBK's have a significantly wider heel cup when compared to the Tacks. The are a deeper fit and have more volume as well.

I just snatched a pair of 2006 Pro Tacks size 7.5D off of ebay...... NEW!

They weren't on there long, and I grabbed em'. I justified it to the wife unit by saying: "these are the last pair my size on the ENTIRE PLANET" lol

.......... the anticipation of their arrival is killing me. I'll include some pics when they arrive.

Nothing better than posting Tacks porn.

I was watching some old hockey footage (the Broduer tribute) and it was amazing how many players wore Tacks. When you see how popular they were it makes you wonder why CCM ever stopped making them
