I would definitely pick the NXG over the S29, regardless of the tendon. It's just a better skate overall.

The only time I’ve truly enjoyed skates as an adult were customs. I can tie them on nice and tight and skate longer without my feet being in pain after. Also, would a custom TotalOne be any stiffer then a retail TotalOne? You’re changing shape and liners maybe your name. I don’t think your point of people needing skates like that holds.

The problem is, that is a high-end women’s pant. I’d recommend a high end girdle - will fit her form better than a men’s pant and would have better protection than a lot of women’s pants.

I am not sure I would agree the AS1 is not worth its price point. If the skate fits the player properly, provides the performance they are expecting and the player is ok with the skate maybe not lasting as long as other brands then I think it's fine for them. Let's be honest, 90% of people who buy custom skates at the retail stores do not require a skate of that level its utterly a waste of money unless they need something custom because they have specific needs due to their feet dynamics. I would even be bold enough to say that most people buying custom skates are actually doing more harm than good as they cannot even take advantage of the stiffness of a custom skate as they just dont have the skating ability.

I've worn NXG's throughout my entire junior hockey career from back in 2011/12 I believe. Still use them now and have never had any problem with the tendon guard - 7+ years of heavy use and no issues with the tendon guard or any other part of the boot.

I’ve worn One90s, NXG, MX3, and 1S and have never had an issue with the flexible tendon guard on any of them. As long as you pull the skates off from the tops of the eyelet area and not the tendon guard itself it will be fine. I’d also avoid wrapping your laces around the skates as that will put pressure on it (or any tendon guard really).

NXGs don’t have the edge holder. So, replacement steel will probably cheaper, and your runners won’t get loose in the holder.
