I swam in 2 open water swims this weekend (a half-mile on Saturday and a 500m this morning) and claimed first place in my age division both times! 🙂 Also this morning the water was 58F so I'm frankly happy that I finished at all. brr.

Over time the LS5 will sharpen a bit better but will never be as clean as aftermarket steel. I see this with Bauer often. When we get in any of our shipments its one of the things our staff is instructed to check for and if a skate has any issues or defect, such as this, we send them back to Bauer for a replacement. Yes, we could go through the hassle of removing the rivet/rivets and replacing them ourselves but I would prefer to just have the manufacturer handle it. I would recommend taking a picture of it before you replace the rivet, which I would recommend doing proactively, and if the holder eventually does fail you have the picture to send the Bauer.

Reminds me of a couple of Titans I had back in the early 90's with that concept, concave on the fingertip side and convex on the palm side.

Enlarged rivet holes is a endless prob. It's why most newer skates with carbon soles have problems. Esp with true. Swapping holders that don't line up completely, ur risking constant rivet issues. That's what I had with my old pair of trues. Now withe my current pair where they were drilled for the holders I have I've had no signs of any rivet issues after a month, whereas I'd have loose rivets after almost every game before.

Have been communicating with CCM and they are remaking my skates from scratch. Solid customer support.

actually, a intermediate stick may be perfect. I am 5'8" and still have to cut down intermediates a small amount, so an intermediate may be perfect, especially at 125 lbs. Id find a place with an intermediate stick and see if it stands roughly the length up to his nose without skates.

My 40 and over team had a practice last night for an upcoming tournament. A couple of guys brought their kids (PeeWee/Bantam aged) as we were short. I brought my 11 year old son. It was my first time skating with him in an adult full on scrimmage. We had a blast. I told him I waited 11 years for this day and it was worth it. He played great- fearless in the corners and carrying the puck up ice. Had about 10 shots, about half really good scoring chances. So much fun.
