They use that geometry so they can make the stick lighter, on a high kick stick like Supreme the bottom taper would have a lot of extra layers of carbon fiber to stiffen out the bottom with the Sonic taper they didn’t have to use more layers bc the geometry itself makes it a stiffer taper so less carbon fiber is used shedding weight.

The pressure isn’t even during a pass; it actually is variable. It comes in fast and light at the toe, then slower/harder, then repeats fast/light at the heel. That way, it isn’t applying undue pressure at the heel and toe. It is impressive. Also, diamond wheels. That was the only knock that I had on it; I wasn’t that impressed with the finish. Passable, but not wow.

Definitely not a site advertisement. I have no affiliation with the site other than being a subscriber. I just thought it was an interesting article. Working in an industry where I’m fully aware of the value of proprietary IP and content that people produce it wouldn’t be ethical or legal for me to print a PDF and post it as I don’t own the content. Really didn’t mean to start a pissing match about this by posting a link to an article. But should I not share something that’s relevant and interesting just because some of the people on here aren’t and don’t want to be subscribers? What about the people that are subscribers that found it informative? I shouldn’t post it for them to read just because you can’t read it? I’d feel differently if people didn’t have any ability to access it - for instance if subscriptions were restricted and someone here couldn’t access one. That’s not the case, everyone here can access a subscription. I certainly won’t try to tell anyone how to spend their money, but if reading it is that important to you that you’re going to complain that you can’t read it or think its somehow unfair that you can’t read it, then subscribe. I’ve been a member and contributor on this board for over a decade. I’ve never posted anything for any reason other than I found it interesting and thought it had something to add to a relevant topic.

For your own personal use as pointed out in their terms of service, I am sure posting it on message boards wasn’t what they had in mind.

I picked up some Superfeet Carbon yesterday and swapped out my Speed plates and it definitely helped. I'd say it felt 80-90% back to my ideal fit for these skates which I'll take. Didn't have any of the moments where I feel my heels running out from under me. Thanks for the help!

I would say the 5/8 FIRE feels like 3/4 ROH, with more glide, and the 3/4 FIRE feels like 1" ROH, with more glide. If you like more "float" than you will likely love it. I personally cannot skate on the 5/8" FIRE as its still too sharp for me.

After having seen/studied how some counterfeit manufacturing works in China (specifically for clothing and watches), replicating this is a non issue if the sticks are manufactured somewhere in China. Maybe it could be a sticking point for a patent law, but pursuing it overseas would be a whole other issue.

Great, yet another reason for us to complain about the poor training of low paid staff in our hockey shops. 🙂

Enough with the discussion about the article posting. We’ve set rules that have been in place for 15 years. And since I’m the only one listed on the paperwork here, I would greatly appreciate not having to deal with any legal issues.

So what happens there? A fine? A warning? Assuming it was even noticed.

what's the point of posting an article here when you need a subscription to read it? Looks like a site advert to me....

I think the evolution of stick blade construction will lead to this eventually. And we'll look back in disbelief about the period of time between wooden blades and this future state when "you had to buy a fixed curve and couldn't even adjust it to your own preference". If a manufacturer can perfect this with a similar blade response, weight and durability to existing process, it would change the market overnight and all manufacturers would have to follow. At that point you could just sell two versions - a lie 5 and a lie 6 mid closed curve that can adapted to your preference by heating and bending. Bonus points if the material lends itself to sanding and you could round or square the toe to your preference. colins

IMO the 2016 1N series and the 2014 8000 series do not feel the same. I used a pair of 2014 Nexus 5000s starting in late 2014. In the spring of 2018 I felt that they had started to really soften up and started looking for a new pair and knowing I loved and best fit in the Nexus line, started trying on the 1N series was starting to go on clearance at my LHS. Tried different price points and sizes (all D, couldn't fine any EEs) and none were really close IMO in terms of fit to the 2014 series. I ended up finding a 2014 series pair of 7000s and went with those instead. I can't speak to the 2N series fit. Hope this helps!

I had my 2 week postop yesterday. I am now allowed to drive, lift up to 15lbs, and swim (within reason). I can even go back to some desk shifts at my gym job. I had a nice light swim this morning, and I'm going to go see my horse buddies on Friday. (Can't ride for another 4-6 weeks).

Would recommend OP check out Base as rumor has it the P30 from CCM is now discontinued on all new sticks moving forward. Which leaves you with only Pro stock , older models , and custom. Sad to think retailers will only offer 3 curves at some point on all sticks. Slowly but surely. Well that's where it seems to be heading anyways.

Not really if all they're offering is standard cuts. You can go see Greg and Jeff over at Total Game Plan Sports - they're former Total Hockey guys over in St. Charles; they have a Blackstone machine. Tell them I sent ya. Or you can send them to me. Refugees welcome.
