  1. I had a smilies problem. I normally wear a 14 but would have to go o a 15 Apx2 Pro to not have my finger touching/crammed in the gusset. I Ended up going with a CCM QLT, and have no problems with my finger in a 14. They were tighter in the backhand, but that’s loosened up over a few sessions. I didn’t like the look of the palm on the FT1, and something about he graphics turned me off. Also saving a few bucks on getting the QLTs on sale.
  2. I have a pair of Supreme T1 MX3 shin pads. Love them. Still in amazing shape. While I’m sure the flexorb is a gimmick, one of the knees has started going to mush, and the liner slides around a little. Is there anywhere a person could buy after market liners (other than SLS) to replace them, or are you otherwise hooped and need to get a full pair?
  3. I wear Copper Sole Extreme Athletic socks. Tight, but not a compression tight. Copper threads help keep the stank down.
  4. Thanks to your advice, I tracked down a large CCM 9000, for about the same cost as the NME4 I had purchased. I’m send that back immediately. The CCM fits great!
  5. Negative. Very northern Canada. Might be too long of a drive lol
  6. Yeah, things definitely didn’t feel right. Even the back plate left a huge gap. Even with the infrequency I would play, and the low impact? Or is it mainly investing the extra bucks to avoid any potential facial oopsie? Yeah, literally only a bunch of cops and fire fighters trying not to get far, so no certification requirements. Regardless, I appreciate you fellas responding. Helps with sorting things out.
  7. Hi goalie gurus. Question, so I’ll add some background. So while normally I play out, my weekly hockey geoup of emergency service members has been struggling to keep goalies. They either move away or can’t make it out. Sometimes it’s one, or shooter tooters, which isn’t as fun. So I decided to dive in and pick up goal equipment. This once a week skate has all skill levels, and no slap shots or contact. At most I’d be strapping on the pads once a month. Most of the stuff I’ve collected from SLS, friends, sales...I’m down to getting a mask now. I’ve gone to closest PHL and tried a few masks on, and everything seems too small I guess? The back plate sits very far back on all 4 fits of the Bauers I tried, leaving what I think is an desirable gap between the back plate and the mask. The store I was at didn’t have many CCM offerings. I’m also not trying to break the bank for occasional usage. Inpicked up an NME 4 recently from an online sale, but it appears as best as near as I can tell, it’s a one size fits all. When I wear it, I feel that the chin cup jams everything closed too tight, can’t even move my mouth, almost feels like if anything goes slightly wrong, I’ll bite my tongue. I’m still able to return this mask Another online store is selling CCM 7000s. Does anyone know if the shape of the mask might fit a wider/rounder head better? I ask as well since it’s not exactly one I can go downtown and try out. For reference, I wear both a Bauer Re-Akt 75 and IMS 7.0 for my fat head. One of the guys I play with has also offered me an older Hasek style helmet/mask, but I’m not so sure of it’s protection, even if I’m not taking clappers. Any my advice is appreciated!
  8. In a recent episode of Chiclets, Biz mentions he interviewed Marleau, and says he’s down to 3pairs but has been working his new skates into practice.
  9. Do goalie skates have similar fit profiles to the skate lines that share their same name? I ask because myself and a couple other skaters in our local beer leagues have a serious goalie deficiency, and a few of us are thinking about strapping on the pads (we have access a few sets of pads), but might want to get skates, but our local shops do not stock anything. As a bonus, what would be the widest goalie skate available? I currently wear Nexus for player.
  10. I don’t think it’s tech mesh (I wish it was), I think it’s fiber composite. But I suppose epoxy would work regardless
  11. I have a pair of Nexus Havoks I’ve had since release, playing 1-2 times a week. Nothing overly physical. Last week I noticed some weird peeling of the graphics, and upon closer inspection, some good cuts. Is this something to be expected with newer constructed skates?
  12. I went from Vapor APXs to CCM QLs and absolutely love them. Got them for a steal too
  13. Finally have the skates of my dreams. Picked up a pair of. Zeus Havoks (upgraded n2900), and they are beauties. So I was like, I need pond skates, cause I don’t want to trash my game ones. I find a pair of Nexus 6000s, same size, and they were the same price point back in the day. When i try to skate in them, they hurt. A lot. Tight in the ankle, and cramped in the toe box, which isn’t the case in my havoks. question is: did they change the last in the last 4 years? Because I was under the impression they hadn’t. And if they did, should I just ditch these backup pond skates now
  14. I’ll only respond to question 1. Was it suggesting 8/8.5 in Supreme or Nexus? When I got scanned, it suggested the same in Supreme EE, but recommended Nexus EE. I also wore a size 12 boot or shoe. I went to a podiatrist, who measured my feet and told me I had a wide forefoot, and was actually a 10.5, but 3E-4E, which is why I was wearing 12s, to get the width, but at the cost of too long a shoe, which caused arch pain. I ended up getting the 8.5 Nexus EE and never felt better.
  15. So I have the potential to pick up some CCM QLTs on a Boxing Day special. I’m typically a Vapor user, as I like tapered gloves, but haven’t been happy with their latest offerings. I usually go IW to view the hertigate on gloves. When I view older histories (wayback machine) I see some conflicting informations. It says the QLTS were based on the old KFS. At another point, it says they were based on The CL500, which I hated, and the newer Tacks information says they were based on the 500s. So in the end, I guess I’m asking are the QLTs true tapered, or was there just some past bad I go on their fits?
  16. Also ended up raiding HockeyMonkey. Picked up some clearance Reebok uncrested jerseys.
  17. Went to PHL looking to replace those APXs I mentioned. Tried the 1x and 900 lites, weren’t sold on them, tried the jeespeed and the ultra tacks, same thing... then stumbled upon a pair of clearance Quicklites. Been using them a few weeks now and absolutely dig them.
  18. Found my 2.0s were more mailable than the 1.0s, so be careful how you stand as they harden. I had to spot heat a crease out when after I moulded them the first time, and now they are great.
  19. I was under the impression when getting custom Nexus that was what was potentially being sent out. Perhaps I misread.
  20. Does anyone know what the specs/features on the 2N Pro are?
  21. Since we are talking elbow pads... I have a pair of APXs that the strapping is stretched off and tearing, and one of the caps looks pretty rough as well. Am considering another set of 1x/x900lites, but have always had issues with the forearm strap coming off during play. Wondering if anyone else has any suggestions what else might be out there that might have a similar or better fit? i did have a pair of U+back when, and absolutely hated them...
  22. One of the guys I play with uses a warrior shell over his bauers
  23. Thanks. 😛 I edited my post to clarify my question.
  24. I’ve just had my feet re-scanned (and as a side note, am leary, as this new scan puts me at a 8-8.5EE, and my previous scans from two different retailer were 9EE,but, whatever), and have ordered, with deposit, a pair of 2Ns. Would the customs be anything above and beyond what is currently being offered in a retail Nexus as far as features go, or would they simply just be custom sizing?
