  1. I know we've had this type of post before but I wanted to get an idea of what we all use and what we like or dislike about it. Here's my list. Helmet: Itech HC85 pro - Light, well ventilated. Visor: Oakley straight small - Never gets in the way, never fogs. Shoulder pads: Graf 703 - Not really happy, looking to get smaller pads. Read my review. Elbow pads: Jofa 8025 - Light small, no bicep cuff. Gloves: TPS R2 - fits my hand perfectly, love the feel. Pants: Mission M1 - Very protective, double belts and a lace up front. Shin pads: CCM 852 - Lightweight comfy but not durable and falling apart. Skates: Mission S500 very comfy, no break in time. Stick: TPS Response R flex - perfect flex no torque, blades are a bit weak.
  2. Went to clear a post with personal insults and waxed the whole topic. Yep, I screwed the pooch on that one. I can't think of a better way to start the topic over again.

If 95/75 feels like a brand new 1/2" sharpening, then 100/50 feels like you've used them three or four times. The guys ranged anywhere from 150-200lbs on 95/75 and the one guy on 100/50 was well north of 200. I also had a few guys that were on 90/75 with me and they ranged from 170-200+.

  7. Barring any major damage, I tend to do mine every 2 or three times on the ice. Every time feels like overkill and I don't want to feel a dramatic difference the next time I get on the ice. I like consistency.

How do I post a picture?

If the picture you want to include in your post is already hosted somewhere on the internet, it's very easy to include the picture in the post. Just click on the button of the picture (underneath and to the left of the smiley button) just above the blank space for your post. A window will then pop up asking for the location of the picture. Just pop the address of the picture into the box and click "ok". If the picture you want to share is located on your computer, you will need to find somewhere to host it for you. Places like Photobucket are free and very easy to use. Once you have it uploaded, simply follow the directions above.

You have no idea how much you can handle, until you have to do it. I've lost a lot of people in the last year or so, including my wife. It never gets easier and the thoughts of them never go away, they just hurt a little less as time goes by.

    Thank you

I'd like to extend my thanks to all of the fantastic people that I have met through this site over the years. You have made all of the time that I have invested in this site well worth the effort. Effective immediately, JR is the last man standing from the group of us that setup this forum all those years ago. I'm proud of what we have created and the impact that we have had on the hockey industry. To be able to remain at the top for so long is a testament to the people that make up this site and I am happy to be able to say that I was a part of it. As JR has always been the soul of this site, I can think of no better man to guide the site on the journey still ahead. I still intend to be around, though the amount of time that I have available has been extremely limited as of late, and shows little chance of improving any time soon. My biggest regret is that personal issues forced me to miss so many of the winterfest and summer jam events. I wish each and every one of you the best and I'll always be happy to help out in any way that I can. My phone number hasn't changed since the site launched and I can still be reached here or via my various email accounts. Thank you all, Chadd

    Vegas Golden Knights

But in the case of Chicago, the unit was named for someone who was from the Chicago area. That is a local connection that the "Vegas" team doesn't have.

Couldn't make it to winterfest. My older dog was in really bad shape at the end of the week and may not make it past his vet visit on Tuesday. In the meantime, one of the cats had to be put down this morning. Blood tests showed kidney failure and there wasn't anything that they could do. She was nothing but skin and bones and had no energy at all. On the plus side, we squeezed in a band rehearsal today and Simon got to have people come over to see him one more time.

    Vegas Golden Knights

Named for a military unit, that was in turn named for a prominent Illinois native leader. Seems like it's not really all that similar, as there is no "Vegas" tie to the "Golden Knights" name.
  14. That's exactly why the assist was granted. No different than a pass that is deflected or tipped on the way to the guy that scores. This isn't really all that weak, I was in the old Civic Arena in Pittsburgh when Mario got as assist from the locker room.

    ASG - John Scott Rule

They wouldn't have had to add the rule if "hockey fans" hadn't decided to troll the league. Scott not taking the high road anywhere along the process certainly didn't help his case either.

Hopefully the next owner will fix the name/logo fiasco. My first thought upon seeing the name and logo was the ego stroking for the owner. Guys like that usually don't end up being good owners, so my hopes for the franchise have diminished significantly.
  17. Unfortunately, far too many officials take the "it's only beer league" attitude when working adult games. I've seen a lot of people get hurt over the years because of it as well.

    Flexing the Stick

I think pretty much everything you said it spot on.
  19. I've always said that caring about the quality of your work is the most important part of being a good sharpener. Oddly enough, I find most of the really good sharpeners are also the least likely to brag about it.

I haven't skated in almost two months. First game of the season I got yet another cheap shot and just haven't bothered to go back.

    Maple Leafs 2016-17

Hard to say that any NHL caliber goalie isn't talented. Some guys thrive on seeing a ton of shots, others are better at seeing a handful of real chances and making the critical stops in a tight game. You have to have the right guy behind the right D.

I don't do hype. I am honest about what I feel, experience and know. For me, FBV feels dramatically different on the ice. My experience with the product and the company has been exceptional. I've also learned a great deal about the science behind it all and it backs up what I feel on the ice. Hey, if I thought it sucked, I would have no problem telling people that. Anyone who has been here long enough knows that I do that as well.
