  1. Not sure if any of the Jersey folks here have heard yet. Stopped by and talked to Bruce at length.

From what I know, they intend to renovate BSA, as far as adding the two sheets....I'll wait to see if they ever start renovating it first.

So Union has AOH on Tuesday, Turdsday, and Saturday nights... http://www.unionsportsarena.com/AdultHockey.htm As far as location, I think this might be the best choice for just aboot everybody. If you are in Freehold, that's roughly 45 - 60 minutes up the Parkway, if you are in Wayne even, that's 30 - 45 minutes down same road. Even those of you in the West, or SI/BK that's not toooooo terrible a drive. In other New Jersey hockey news (if you haven't heard): The Rockets Sports Group (BSA) bought Rock Ice in Dunellen on Monday. They will be moving their adult leagues there for the Spring/Summer with 9:00 PM start times, a lounge with TV's and a BYOB policy. The Bridgewater Bears have officially left BSA, and have renamed themselves to Hunterdon Bears, to call Flemington Ice Arena their new home.

ProTech is $250/hr for the little rinks. I was just there discussing a rental in April. I feel they are just a tad too small for 3-on-3, two strides and you are out of the zam door...

Best piece of equipment you've bought?

VH skates, which were completely overshadowed by Mako (not Mako II) which I bought two pairs for $150/ea CND back in December...which equated roughly $140 US including taxes and shipping. Then there were some real gems that I have either really wanted to have or been looking for...

Union is fine, even Floyd Hall is doable.
  7. Must have insurance. I personally would not have been able to commit this crime, I'd have to flex every damn stick on my way through and out of the store.

Carpool!!! Honestly Russ, I would love to get a more consistent group for a rental. And I'd love to do it at ProTech, just a much nicer rink, but I doubt I could get as good a deal on 1.5 hours of ice.

    Super Bowl?

So, I have once again missed (actually skipped) the "big game". Honestly I can't recall what was the last super bowl game I saw...must have been over 10 years ago, and I couldn't tell you who played and obviously won. I can say that I have never seen a regular season football game ever, and the same goes for basketball and baseball as well. I know I am not the only one out there (I hope), that just couldn't give a damn about those three sports. Guess being European (Soviet) born and raised, thought I have spent the greater majority of my life living in the US, I never acclimated to that part of American society.
  10. Any lefty Lidstrom-like 75-85 flex in the mix??

Ice House is a bit of trip for me (being in Edison), but I'll keep tabs on this thread. Never know what might come of it.

I used to rent ice on a regular basis last year at BSA, and I have a friend who's a member here who does the same at Mennen/Twin Oaks.

They will do both, the new toe and the old, but I would highly recommend going with the new plastic caps, as that is the bulk of my issues with the skates. The exposed leather and stitching around the toe is what has worn through completely on both skates, on both sides. The new toe cover eliminates that wear spot.

I haven't had the pleasure of ordering or even seeing 60 pairs. Seeing the condition of my skates after 6 months of light c-league action I must say I was hugely disappointed. My retail 20K's which I have had since their release date are in much much (I'll add another one for exclamation) much better shape. I would hate to see what an NHLer's VH skates look like after a week. At this stage of their existence, I will give their design a 4, and durability a 3.

My beef with VH, aside from what I mentioned above, was that I ordered my skates in March/April 2015, by May/June they announced the new improved tendon guard and toe cover, and by July/August they announced lower price for Junior size skates. It would have been so very nice of them to take a moment of their time to mention their (near) future planned improvements and suggest for me to wait to place the order until these new "updates" were implemented. At the end, I had to spend another $100 shipping them back, only to not have my issues (stitching around the toe box, and boot length) not resolved.
