  1. I really dont know. Ive only delt Graf Swiss. If you are interested in the Swiss made Grafs, I can PM you the name of the hockey store I used to organised my visit.
  2. I met Ms Graf when I went to the swiss factory. She did seem very concerned about mounting an inline chassis on the newer soles. From what I could gather (her English wasnt great and my swiss/german is non existant) its not just the uneveness that was the problem, it was because the recessed parts in the sole was not the same thickness as the edges. The new soles just arent as thick/rigid as the old white ones (she didnt really bat an eye lid about converting a pair of 707s). They would most likely be able to make a newer skate with the white sole if you ordered custom skates. FWIW, they can remake any of the old skates. Even though the 707 is the old model, she said she can always make me a new pair in a few years when my current ones wear out.
  3. cheers, ill have a look around and see what i can find along those lines
  4. Was defintely worth the wait. Re wheels: I got the new ones out for the photo :P (It seems wrong to be able to skate the same set of wheels for over a year, must try harder) Just need to work out what to do to stop the boot wearing down when i stack it... tape?
  5. :D :D :D Size 5.5 Swiss Graf 707 Jr chassis from 08 Mission Assasin 09 72a & 74a Revision Variants
  6. It is called plexus, its a plastic cleaner. Only thing I use on the MC helmet and iridium visor Speaking of which, I still owe you a can Mr Wabbit
  7. Im a long way away from playing, but thought I may post a noob hockey pic from the weekend: noob hockey In case anyone was wondering, we have to use floorball balls until everyone has a cage. Im the token "old duck" in the kid's class (there arent enough adult learners to run an adult noob clinic)
  8. That is appalling, having skills is one thing, but a poor attitude can quickly negate the value of said skills. P.S love this thread, great for noobs like me!
  9. Here is another Australian example for why so much is brought online: Mission BSX skates. Online $99 USD ($145 AUD), price at the rink $450 AUD. It costs around $99 USD to ship a pair of skates to Australia, therefore, the final bill for some BSX online from the US is $290 AUD as compared to $450 AUD from a rink's hockey store. I dont mind paying an extra $50-100 to help support the local stores (depending on the item), however, there are some items that it doesnt make sense to buy, as per the above example, I brought my skates online (Assassin, which according to another player, you cant even get here even if you ordered. Being a size 5.5 means I didnt have many options, basically Assassin Jr or Boss Jr). The big problem here, is the importers from which the stores buy from. It costs the LHS an arm and a leg to get the gear to start with, before they add their profit to it. Even then, the importers dont bring everything into the country to start with. Its no wonder the rink based store in the example will no longer be carrying hockey equipment and our LHS has more field hockey and floor ball gear than it does ice and inline hockey gear. Its not their fault, it just doesnt pay them to keep a large stock hoping someone will buy something at the already inflated prices, not to mention the high end stuff would be more than most people would be willing to spend. For example, I found a pair of Mission Wicked 1s at an Australian store. $1200 AUD (and this was an already discounted price ie old model run out price). Would you pay that much for a pair of stock standard skates? Its a sad state of affairs, but like I said, its not the fault of the LHS, they are great blokes and very helpful. Much love to our LHS for not throwing in the towel.
  10. or one that screws together like a pool queue
  11. Interesting thought, thankyou. You are right, there isnt much room to do anything. My backpack, ends up sitting on the pillion seat. I've gotten away with hiring a stick from the rink so far, but its way to short. May buy a cheapy and see if I can leave it at the rink.
  12. K8 GSX-R 1000 (still havent figured out a suitable way to carry a stick yet :( (I dont like the idea of carrying it strapped to my back and then being taken out by some twatt who got their liscence from the bottom of a weatbix packet) )
