  1. I love how in the interview with Thornton after the suspension had been made he said that Perron must have not seen him coming out of the box and just ran into him. There is no way that he and Thornton just collided. Such a baloney answer from Thornton. I would have accepted him saying well I thought the hit was clean but Perron had his head down or some garbage like that. Not "oh he just ran into me". Edit: Sorry about that Chadd.
  2. Don't you know that its more important to look good than to actually perform well in the sport you have chosen hahaha. No seriously this is a problem with kids today and parents. All they care about is the materialistic aspects of pretty much everything. And hope Im not being sexist, but lets face the facts its the mother who was buying them. She probably has no concept of why skates are that important and only cares that her daughter looks good in the pictures she shows to her friends.
  3. I couldnt believe the attitude that came from the guy. And the whole time Im just trying the skates on thinking if this is how its going to be "I'll try them on to see which I like and go somewhere else". Every couple minutes he would give me "so what do you think." Unfortunately, I think this was the guy who runs the whole shop. Wish you guys were around when I played as a kid. I always went to the shop and never got properly fitted (I was going to Ocean Hockey in Brick, NJ when I was kid, really the only decent shop that was by my house), so this time I figured let me make sure I do this right. Guess I was wrong hahaha. On a side note I went to Iceworks in Syosset and although I dont think the guy working there that day knew a ton (because he was trying to get me to buy skates basically the same size as my shoe) he did take the time to have me try on a bunch of skates and talked to me about each one. Granted they didnt have a ton in stock at the time, I thought at least this guy gives a crap.
  4. Wow, that's bad. Does he know how to lace his shoes? I am all for supporting my LHS. Maybe its because when I was younger and playing we didnt have the internet to buy equipment off of. It may also be the shipping costs on some of the sites. I don't know what it is but shipping at some of them are a ripoff. The only think I don't like about some LHS and maybe this is because I havent really been spending a lot of time at the ones by my house now that I live in LI. But occasionally you go to one and if your not a regular or someone they recognize they don't feel the need to really help you out. For example when I was looking for skates last spring, first pair in 10 years, I went to a rather well known shop on LI which many people recommended. I wont say which one though. I walk in and the guy is there talking to someone else he plays on a team with or what not. I asked him if he could help me fit me for some skates, preferrably Supreme line or Vapors. So the first question he asks me is what size I am...which I thought was pretty funny considering I asked if he could help "fit" me. SO I told him "I'm not really sure". I wasn't sure because when I played in high school/college I always wore skates that were too big. He looks at me, laughs to his buddy and says "you call yourself a hockey player and you don't know your skate size" and just keeps laughing with his friend. I freaking stared at him and said "I havent bought skates in 10 years". He takes out the ruler or whatever you call it, measures my feet, brings out 4 boxes and then walks back to talking with his friend. Lets just say I wont be using this guy ever.
  5. Busted my butt after law school trying to get a job. Even though I did well I didn't hav the exp to do what I wanted. FInally a year and half later I landed a job at one of the top firms in the country. Work was going great bought a new house and then the economy went to crap and my field (Corporate law) went to hell with it about a month after I closed on the house. Now I'm one of 3500 or so laid off lawyers just in NYC. Market is never getting better and I can't even get temp jobs. THere are firms saying that they won't even look at laid off lawyers even though we have all be canned for economic reasons and not performance. I know most people hate lawyers, but its my career and its going down the drain.
  6. Yeah can't agree more. I can't decide if they need to make a deal for a top defenseman or goalie. Theodore can look really good at times and then just really shotty the next. I really don't think they can just keep saying that Varly is the future for them. THere is something about him that does not seem to inspire confidence. They have a real shot to win this year and I would say a solid goalie would give them the best chance.
  7. Thanks. Picked those up last spring. Love the feel and size of the 4-Rolls, not to mention the short cuff. That was my first dip into pro-stock land so we'll see how long before im hoarding gear haha
  8. Here are some pictures of my very modest equipment hahaha. I am slowly replacing the old stuff I used to use in high school/college. Really need some decent sticks hahaha. The cyclones were great when they came out.
  9. Man they really need to learn to play so defense, that was just terrible last night. I'm starting to think maybe they need to trade for a proven goalie. You just cant win in the playoffs by trying to out duel the other team. Its just not going to happen.
  10. Anyone know of any place on Long Island that does it? WOuld be curious to try it.
  11. I see why they washed it out based on your explanation. My only question is what about when guys crash the net and the forward and d-man basically slide into the goalie pushing him and thepuck ovre the line. They consider that a good goal, no? Isn't this similar? Or am I just not understanding the rule.
  12. Hahaha yeah they are a bit annoying. I play under the gamertag cdoug5555, if anyone happens to be online say hello
  13. Yeah, not to sound like a total wimp, but I'm hurting like hell hahahaha. You know if it was a full open hockey session and I was wearing full pads I wouldnt mind much, but this dude knew no one out there was wearing pads. The worst part is there were little kids roaming around. If it hit me in the chest then it would have certainly hit a kid in the head. Just not cool at all. I just didn't want to start an argument, so I just let it slide, but I should have told the guy off.
  14. Here's a good story from today. So I took my friend who is just getting into hockey to a Stick and Puck. Typical session of just a bunch of people skating around and shooting on net. So, like everyone else I am not wearing any pads except for my helmet and gloves. Im at the net fishing pucks out for everyone, now my general understanding is that if someone is doing this you just hold up for a second. Instead, this freaking guy (who just took slapshots for an hour and half - probably to show off to the kids) winds up an rips one and hits me square in the chest. Of course I instantly scream a nice profane word and look to see who did it. When I see this guy skating to me I think to myself "of course". He comes up to me and says "oh sorry, I thought you were cutting a different way". I just told him dont worry about it and went on skating around. Now I'm sitting here pretty much unable to twist or stretch without it freaking totally killing me. The best part is maybe 10 minutes after that I'm with a little kid in front of the net again fishing pucks out and this same guy comes in takes a snap shot whihc goes right in between our heads and hits the cross bar. We both sort of jumped out of the way and look at each other thinking "what is this guys deal". So, I don't know correct me if I am wrong, but my impression is that if someone is in front collecting the pucks you sort of take a second break instead of winding up and letting one go. He probably sent a couple other shots close to people throughout the morning, but of course I was the lucky one that got tagged hahaha.
