  1. I know, I'm just saying the price difference for mrsp for the average person.
  2. 580 for custom version isn't that much more than the retail version
  3. It was always the recommendation that if retail skates for you fine stick with them. My next skates will be retail since true makes retail now, and the fact Bauer and ccm are finally on board with comfort being a priority as well. The Mach skates were a huge win for Bauer in the comfort category
  4. I'd be surprised if it's actually a proto and not a different model Bauer under. You think he'd jump from an old trigger to a special edition sub 360 gram stick?
  5. Ya there are different methods but for me the main issue especially with ccm skates is where the toecap meets the boot. That junction is brutal since they use a clip rivet system. Bauer is better in that they used to sew it. Now Bauer also uses a rivet but it's a bit more flush. Either way I'm most happy with my trues since the entire boot and toe cap is seamless
  6. I tend to agree with this as people's feet widen and splay out when leaning forward and bearing weight. The minimal foams in the forefoot and toebox on ccm and Bauer skates make you have to get used to a skate that's forefoot is too narrow during actual play. Yes you get used to it eventually and it wasn't until I tried true skates that I realized how ill fitting my previous skates were. I mean in general most human footwear is not ergonomical and too narrow, but I digress.
  7. Off the shelf true skates have been just as comfortable for me as custom true skates. That's just me though. For people who have different size feet that's 1/2 a size or more, it's definitely beneficial for custom. I used to be fine with off the shelf Bauer. I would still be if I never got trues. Ever since I got trues my feet became desensitized to certain pressure points etc. Now if I wear old skates I used to have they feel like crap. Almost wish I never tried trues so I had way more options at the retail level 😂
  8. Good to know. I thought the same as you and same experience as it really doesn't bother me when playing/holding the stick. I wonder if they will ever come out with a modern tapered fit for customization.
  9. 2 mins is very conservative for obvious reasons as ccm doesn't want to be liable for customers messing up their skates. I personally always do 3-5 mins but with that said 220 is pretty high temp and I actually only do180-200. I do however check the boot at the 2 min mark to see how warm and soft they are and then go from there. I always put the skates one at a time on a towel which is on a baking sheet. Putting the skates directly on the baking sheet you MIGHT leave marks on your skates. I have a convection so I don't even turn it off. I've baked a lot of Bauer ccm and true skates in my oven so I know what I'm doing. And as others mentioned the wrap technique is the way to go as it'll prevent any chance of eyelet damage.
  10. I mean the liner that sits between the back of your fingers and the back of the finger padding inside the gloves. I think we're both talking about the same thing though lol. Mine don't slip under but I've had gloves where the padded liner did lift a bit so when putting my hand in the glove initially could cause my finger to catch under the liner. Yup the flex thumb is about 50% mobility as other brands but tbh when holding a stick I actually don't really flex the thumb all that much. It's noticeable when just wearing the gloves and making a fist but when holding a stick I barely notice a difference between lock thumb gloves and even the most mobile flex thumbs. Btw with ur flex thumb, did they remove the thumb loop on the palm or is it there? I ask bc I'm not sure if mine was removed as an oversight or if that's just what they do for flex thumb options.
  11. Yup I got flex thumb. The thing about this was I think for flex thumb they don't give you the loop thumbs that adds even more mobility for some reason. The lock thumb comes with the loop thumbs palm but this didn't. They cost me 280 cdn shipped. They had a 15% off promo for the mth of Sept. It's crazy bc shipping was $55 just from Ontario to BC in Canada which to me is ridiculous. But after the discount the total cost was more or less the same as getting the standard eagle aero pro in store which retail for about 250$ cdn before tax. That said, my next order when they have another sale, I think it will be more expensive since I'll be adding the loop thumbs, double thick backhand pad and finger liners. The standard ones are fairly thin and feel noticeably less cushioning than modern ccm Bauer and warrior gloves. They're still comfortable but I like more plushness. I'll probably also get a diff palm as well. These are just the standard msh3 palms. Probably a good idea to get them to provide me with a complete list of options since the online form is pretty limited, especially with colors.
  12. It was a bit of a guessing game as the colors are totally different when you take pictures of it so it was hard to show them what I wanted. In person they aren't a perfect match but close enough that most people won't notice unless they inspect it and look at it from different angles. In the future, it i have a unique color, I will prob just send them the matching hockey socks so they can compare it to their swatches and threads. For my future order, I will have a lot more custom options added. This was kind of a test run for me. Pretty happy since they were more or less the same price as the retail aero pros you can get.
  13. Just ordered some. They are great. 4 weeks turnaround for me.
  14. If this were the case why wouldn't he just use the same hyperlites for roller. You can see his inline skates are old model trues.
  15. No one's going to be able to tell you from looking at a picture. If your son says it feels fine it's most likely fine since he's the one using it. They're all done via a template and yes there can be user error it's unlikely
  16. They're growing popularity bc the younger generations are wearing them and liking them so they keep wearing them, hence why there's a decent amount of the prospects in them. I wouldn't be surprised if bedard goes back to them at some point.
  17. Except their trigger release mechanism coming
  18. They allegedly fixed this issue with the hzrdus line of skates and their solution to the cat pros is to slap another layer of carbon over the stock shell. Only time will tell if the hzrdus shell is more durable.
  19. It's crazy how it doesn't matter if it's the carbon fiber boot or not, but this issue is happening on every retail boot true has made from the tf to the cats.
  20. Contact true they sent me a set free a few mths ago. Not sure if they are still doing this. Imo it's pointless. Yes it'll protect the skate a bit but if you get a skate cut it'll still go through and look ugly. But up to u. I ended up removing my second set I put on.
