  1. Okay so I’m in heavy (literally) need of some equipment but it is so damn hard to find! I’m about 340lbs and I’m having a hard time finding some big boy equipment! Any suggestions for pants and or girdles, shoulder pads, guards ect.? I found skates that were able to fit my Fred Flintstone feet which were the Bauer Nexus N9700 10EE. Now to fulfill my dream of playing hockey I need some new equipment. Help
  2. Hi guys, Hopefully this is the best place to ask about this sort of thing (please let me know if it isn't). But I was going through our attic, and found this red Cooper SK600 hockey helmet still in its packaging. We're selling our old stuff, so my first impulse was to see how much I could reasonably sell it for. I came across this eBay listing which listed a similar helmet for $145 USD. But as we all know, some eBay listing prices can be totally bogus. Here's a few more pictures of the helmet: So with that said- how much should I be selling this helmet for? Chump change, or more than that?
  3. Hi! About a year ago I've seen some pics of mr. Putin playing hockey with a weird jaw protector under his half shield. Seems like it is less cumbersome than traditional Bauer combo (half shield + mask) and a more breathable than a full face shield like Concept III.The mounting points location is pretty interesting, too. There was absolutely no info on the internet that I could find about this piece of equipment. The chin cup+strap is definetely from Bauer, but seems like it was added to the jaw protector later, cause there are no such pieces in any Bauer catalog. Several weeks ago I have seen a guy in my beer league rocking the same exact piece. I asked him where did he get it, he told that his friend brought him one from his trip to Canada. He stated that this protector + half shield is much more comfortable and lighter than a combo or a full cage. Maybe some of you could provide me some info about it? Manufacturer, product name, price, sizing, etc. Thanks!
  4. Hi there! Hope you can help me with the correct shoulder pad sizing. I can have these Bauer Supreme One.8 shoulder pads at a really sweet price. They are sized Large (5). I am 6'1", 170-180 lbs, chest size is 39 1/2". So technically i fit somewhere in between sizes Medium and Large, according to Bauer shoulder pad sizing guide. I don't have any local hockey stores nearby so all i can try on is these Large One.8's. Lengthwise, they meet my size Large girdle just right at the spine area, and cover my ribs at the front nicely. As for width, i stretch velcro straps to their maximum position to sit firmly on my chest. One thing i don't quite get is if the shoulder caps are sitting right? I will be playing in contact league, but the level of play is average. If there are other guys with similar body proportions, please feel free to post which model and size shoulder pads you wear. I took 2 pictures of myself with and without shoulder pads on if it helps.
  5. I recently bought some second-hand hockey pants and there is no way I could give them back, I also wouldn't want to buy some new ones either. I am trying to figure out how to keep the pants up higher so they don't get in the way. Although I still have not found out what to do yet, any comment, answer would be great. My helmet fits fine at the store, but when I go to practice, my temples start hurting a lot as if someone was squeezing my head super hard. The pain would start probably around 35-50 minutes in. I first had a CCM XT (forgot the size), and the pain would start earlier than the helmet I have now which is the Reebok XT medium. The Reebok one does not hurt as much, but probably will hurt the same when I use it during a game. Any comment would be great. I was thinking of cutting the EPP foam a little but read some articles saying that would void the certification. Recommendations for a wide head, probably a round head would also be great. (Best if the helmet recommendations are under $60) Also the helmets have cages. New edit: Is there any way I could alter ski pants suspenders to fit the hockey pants?

    Stick Advice?

I am looking for advice on a new stick. I have been spending loads of time researching this year's top of the line sticks from Bauer, CCM, Warrior, True, etc. I am having difficulty deciding on a stick. I am an offensive defenseman, 5 7' and 160 lbs. I play in a competitive men's senior league (full contact). Most of the shots I take in game are from the point, dragging the puck to the middle and taking a quick snap shot or quick slap shot. My game is also heavily revolved around crisp hard passes. My most recent sticks of have been Reebok Ribcor (1st generation), Supreme One95, and the original Easton Stealth. As you can see I am not very hard on stick as they last me quite awhile. My favorite of the three was probably the Supreme One95, I am not crazy about my Ribcor. I am not sure if I should go with a low kick point (i.e. Bauer Vapor 1X) or mid kick point stick (ie Bauer Vapor 1S). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  7. What's the one best piece of equipment you've bought yourself in the last 2 years? Sticks, skates, gloves, etc... they all count! It doesn't matter what you paid for it!! Just talking about pure enjoyment!!! Right now, I'm deciding between skates or sticks. Hmmmm.
  8. Ok friends, I have to get hockey players to take my survey for a product I had to develop for a class i'm taking. I don't know any hockey players and I need 150 responses by Monday. Can you PLEASE help a girl out? It will take you no more than 3 minutes and I will be eternally grateful. I don't know how to reach out any other way than this... Sorry if this is not the place to do it, send some suggestions my way if you have any advice. https://bostonu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cYlFT3P8SUvDSq9 THANKS!!!!! - A stressed college student who just wants to pass senior year
  9. I'm a 6 foot winger looking to buy a new stick and I am looking at a easton v9e warrior qr1 and a ccm ribcore. These are all Prostock. I weigh around 150 pounds. I primarily take snapshots and wristshots but I also have a nice snapshot. And I would like to get maximum power out of a low kick stick while not sacrificing power. I also want good luck feel, so which one would you reccomend? While not sacrifing puck feel*

    Have things changed

My first post, so I'll give a little background. I used to play and referee hockey until the real world took over and my career (truck driver) kept me unable to play. The first couple years I was able to play off and on at pick up games or drop in. After a couple years though I hung up the skates and gave up for 13 years. Well, now I'm back! Joined a Sunday D league team starting the first week of September and have been playing drop in's the last couple weeks to slake off the rust. All my old equipment was wasted after sitting in my parents cellar for a dozen years, so after a little Christmas in August, I have all new equipment. But man, have things changed! Especially stick technology. Flex points, composites, lies, grip/no grip, etc. That brings me to the point of this post. I bought a Sherwood EK-5 as a "starter" stick because I used Sherwood in my prior time and I like the Coffey blade. I didn't want to spend a lot on a stick with just getting back into playing, but wanted a 1 piece composite, and this was on sale. Fast forward a couple weeks and I have had the chance to try a few sticks of other guys at drop in's (a couple Bauers, Easton, a CCM and Sherwood) and one of those was the EK-15. I loved it. I also tried a guys T-100 and really liked it. My question is, I read Sherwood is coming out with a T-120. What would the major difference be between the EK-15 and the T-120? Should I just go ahead and pick up an EK-15 or wait for the T-120? Getting back into things my shot is no where near the strength it used to be, but I am fairly accurate still. I always did mix my shots from slap to snap to wrist fairly equally and it seems to be the same for me so far.
  11. I've been using a TPS Response Plus with a Nash curve, but can't find what the lie is anywhere online. I like the blade, and the whip of the shaft, but the lie seems steep and being only 5'10'' I can't utilize it the way I'd like to. Does anyone have an idea about what the lie might be, or know if cutting back the shaft an inch would make it less awkward to handle?
  12. For quite some time I've been set on getting the Easton Mako M5 Shin Pads, but I would like to see what you guys think of these, and if you have any other suggestions. Easton's Synergy line has me curious, especially the HSX, which is a little out of my price range, but I'm still interested in them. I've looked at the Bauer Supreme One.8 pads as well. Nothing from Reebok interests me except their 20k shin pads, but those are definitely out of my price range unfortunately.
  13. New member to the forums here. I currently have some Easton Stealth S13 Shin Pads in 13" that I picked up for a pretty good price. They have worked pretty well so far, but they are a little too small for me, so I have been thinking about getting a some 14" shin pads. I saw the Easton Synergy ST16 Shin Pads on eBay which caught my eye. They seem to look like the S13's, but of course the strapping system is different, and the ST16's are older and not the Stealth line. I could not find any reviews about these pads online. I was wondering if any of you have used them or know more about the quality and comfort of the pads. I wear the S13's behind my skate tongue, but I'm looking to wear the ST16's over the tongue. Here's a link to them: http://www.hockeytron.com/Hockey-Protective-Equipment/Hockey-Shin-Guards-Pads-Senior/Easton-Synergy-ST16-Senior-Hockey-Shin-Guards.html

    equipment mods

I am just wondering what mods you guys put on your equipment, what the advantage is and how to do the mod
  15. I know this is a repetitive question that comes up. However, I'm in dire need of finding a previous seasons Bauer TotalONE P88 or Bauer ONE95 P88, preferably 87 flex. I've used nearly all of this seasons sticks - Nexus, NXG, Vapor, none of them compare to the older version. I've searched online equipment stores, pro stock included and to no avail. I've checked ebay daily.
  16. First, what is a girdle? Compression shorts that hold the cup or the padded shorts? Do I need padded shorts? Can I wear ice hockey ones? If I do, will i be made fun of? Is it okay to wear sweatpants over my pads? ( we get special matching ones so I don't want to buy a pair if I'm just going to have to buy another pair in a few weeks. ) Do you wear a mouth guard? Full face mask? What do they make you do at tryouts? Any tips? I've never played on an actual team before just street hockey with friends. The coach said most people make it unless their really horrible. I'm great at street hockey, I'm a decent skater but i don't know about both together, I'm really nervous!
