    Marsblade Ice Holder

Hi all, What does everyone think about the Marsblade holder coming out pretty soon? Think it will be the real deal? Is the Tuuk holder in for massive market share loss?
  2. Hello, I am in the market to get new custom skates with Vh. I have a smaller then normal foot so I have always skated in jr skates with short holders. However I have learned to skate in them very well. But. Now is my chance to get VH custom skates and have them install a 246'holder. I am afraid it may inhibit my agility. However still a 246 holder isn't that much bigger. I am about 5'6 150 lbs. skating for 30 years. I am wondering if the 246 holder is going to take me to the next level speed and power, or is it just going to slow me down. Let me know what you guys think.

  4. Asking for reccommendations on what I should do. Im a bit of a collector of skates. Love them for both fit and vanity reasons. My skates of choice are Graf 707/G7 and micron megas. Both fit great, but have drastically different holders. Specifically speaking Cobras and tuuk plus. I'm a decent skating beer leaguer and would like to be able to transition back and forth depending on what skates I feel like using on a particular night. I don't dislike the look or the pitch of the Cobras, but probably prefer the look of the tuuk. Only thing I don't love about the Cobras would be the steel. So I'm contemplating putting Tuuks on a few pairs of g7's I have. I'm hesitant to make a permanent change to the pitch of my skates and am somewhat concerned that the technology of the original Tuuks might be lacking. I'm not interested in profiling options as I don't trust local sharpeners but I also don't want to be a fish out of water when I decide to flip flop skates. So I'm just curious what others would do for any kind of reason whether performance, preference, aesthetics, etc... should I throw Tuuks on my grafs to minimize the difference btwn transitioning? Should I keep the Cobras and buy step steel? Should I go for the classic look of the tuuk on my grafs? Should I utilize the technology of the cobra?
  5. I'm getting a pair of VH skates made and am looking at holder options. On my current Bauer's Nexus 7000 I have Lightspeed Edge which is nice because I'm able to swap out the blade, but because of the width I'm unable to offset the blade holders which I'm hoping to do on my VH skates. That's just the rationale, but not really relevant to my question of, has anyone worked with both and can say whether one of these holders has a wider width than the other? And by width I mean the part that connects to the skate. Difference of millimeters even would be pretty big. I know that's a really specific request, but thought someone might know since they're pretty popular. Thanks guys!

    Is my holder broken?

I have a crease in both rear towers of my Tuuk holders, one is bent and out of shape the other is still fairly straight. Looks like they have collapsed almost, but they are only a couple of months old and have been skated on about once a week ( pics below ). Has this happen to anyone here? Do you know what would have possibly caused this to happen and are these now garbage? http://imgur.com/40PgYRd http://imgur.com/aKeHRIN
  7. Hi guys! I've always wondered why the TUUK LS2 and Edge holders have copper rivets at the back instead of aluminum rivets (I think?) Also, I'm planning on replacing my Lightspeed Pro holders to Edge ones, are the rivet placements the same between the two kinds? (Size 280) Thanks in advance! :)
  8. Does anyone remember the CLEAR tuuk from the 80? Damn!! that kid Rodney was the COOLEST during the Friday Night Public Skates (lights down, music up... Skynyrd, Rush, Cheap Trick) i think one kid also had BLUE ones. anyone still using them? ~GAB
  9. I'm considering the way to customize Yow-angle of edge holder and boots. I've thought that if MLX holder have the same hole pattern/position as Tuuk Lightspeed or Lightspeed2 holder, I can use MLX holder to adjust yow-angle of edge. Then after swap it to LS holder. Does anyone here who knows about that information? Also it's better if MLX have the same difference of elevation as LS. For example, I'm interested in Quikblade holder to get quick changeable ability of runner. Of course I know Lightspeed Edge holder which have the same ability. But I want to use Step steel with it. I read that Quikblade have the same difference of elevation as Tuuk holders. I've been using Tuuk holder for 15years over. so I'm glad if the holder had the same pitch as Tuuk series for tuning ease.
  10. Ok so heres the deal, I bought a pair of CCM U+ 12s about a year and when i got them I never had a chance to bake them because I ordered them by mail from hockeymonkey. When I got the skates I was on my home from school to play in the Return of the Robin tournament. I never thought It would be a big deal to just skate with them without baking them because I did it with one pair of my CCM U+ 08s and and many previous skates ordered online. I've noticed though that my feet feel offset in my skates like one foot it toward the inside of the skate and the other is toward the outside. I can still skate perfectly on them but, would baking them fix the position and feel of the boot so that it feel like im centered on the blade or atleast they feel even? P.S. I have checked the E-holder and it appears to be on strait and square. and just a side topic any one else with CCM U+ skates feel that the boots look really narrow when you lace your skates just curious.
  11. Long story short, when I first got my Makos I could not for the life of me stand the forward pitch in the CXNs. Rather than profiling them, I was given a free pair of Tuuk 2.1 Runners/Holders and got them swapped out. Perhaps the holder was mounted incorrectly, but ever since the swap I've had arch problems in my old Makos which caused a fair bit of pain, even after spot-heating and pressing out the problem area. After somehow wrecking my old Makos in an incident, I was given a new pair for Christmas and decided to keep the CXN holders as I didn't want to deal with the alignment/holder issues again - after all, the CXN was designed to be on the Makos. Once again, they fit like a charm, and this time the arch issue was a lot less pronounced and felt genuinely comfortable again. Now here's my problem. In my first two skates with the Makos, they felt odd. I didn't feel off-balance or like I was being thrown forward like I did in my first run with my Makos, but they were definitely weird. I caught the wrong edge skating sometimes, or I felt like my heel was grinding into the ice at times, and my stride definitely feel shorter/choppier. I understand that the Tuuk 2.1s had a longer runner, and wonder if this is the source of my problem, and that I should profile the CXN/ES4 to a 10ft to compensate for that loss of blade. Or, is this really just an adjustment period issue and that my stride will become smoother and return to it's usual form once I get used to the new holders? I mean, I can see how the forward pitching on the Makos affect my skating not only in balance, but in skating mechanics like my stride. Any thoughts or possible remedies to my issue, or should I just buck up and keep skating until I acclimate?
