What about John Stevens to coach in STL? Any chacne of that being a good fit?

Stevens is more of the same but less. Hard to explain other than "Andy Murray lite".

Keenan probably would have been a good short term fit in Philly, not so much in St Louis.

Hit does not phase him in the least tho.

He knew he was going to get hit but still made the play

Played a great game last night.........cannot catch a break lately.

ugly mood here in STL - probably good for the boys to be in Western Canada for a few games, hopefully they come back with some Christmas cheer...and 6 points

It would be nice to see them win here in Vancouver for once.. hopefully tonights the night.

so at least now we know the secret to the Blues' recent power play success

6 men on the ice!

I hope David wasn't the 6th man out there and yes, Mason was on the ice, it was not a delayed penalty

That's hysterical. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Refs definitely had an off night during this one...

Some of those comments are hilarious...I like the one about Perron just being piggyback on Winchester so that Winnie might actually have some hands...lol...priceless!

I heard the same thing about Marty St. Louis once - that some huge lurch should just stuff him down the front of his pants and let Marty handle the puck. As ever, grotesque disparities in anatomy make it funnier. :)

It used to be a tactic at Maine to put out extra guys for last second faceoffs in their own end when protecting a 1 goal lead. Guys are so bunched up that it wasn't often caught and when it was they would just play dumb about who was supposed to be on and the extra skater would just head off before the puck drop.

Canucks in town tonight for an early New Year's Eve tilt, plenty of time for the boys to play then hit the strip joints, casinos or whevever they play to spend their New Year's Eve.

Let's hope David can have a repeat of the last time Vancouver came to town.

"Kid Line" back together tonight...Andy Murray looking for a spark. Also had an equipment guy skate around the locker room burning sage...(in the Strickland blog).

Should be a fun game to watch...been a while since we've seen Perron with Berglund and Oshie.

It won't be Andy Murray looking for a spark - he has been fired! :D

it will be interesting as Payne is known as a high energy coach who emphasizes positioning and an agressive forecheck versus matchups. He's supposed to relate better to young players as well. Hopefully this will be a huge boost for David's ice time and production - put him back on the PK as well.

Through I dont approve of Murray's tactics I have a feeling David will be better off with the experiences he had with him. I wont pretend to know anything that was going on but sometimes a person, in general, becomes even stronger after a negative experience has passed.

I think David will benefit from Murray long term because of Murray's high value system and life lessons.

That said this move was much needed because the entire team was regressing almost from the get go this season.

I would like people to know that David Perron played hard right up until his last shift under Murray beating an icing call.

David Perron never quit on this coach for the record.

I am sure David would agree Best of Luck to Andy Murray.

Much like the Penguins benefited from playing under a defensive coach before Bylsma took over, the Blues will benefit from his time there. That said, they will also benefit from his departure. You have to coach a style that fits your roster, that's the sign of a great coach.

some very telling words from Cam Janssen

Blues winger Cam Janssen had some pointed comments upon's Murray's departure.

“I don’t think he was on the same page with everybody,” Janssen said. “I think guys didn’t know where they stood with him, and I think that’s not a good thing to have in the locker room. I had no idea where I was with him and I couldn’t understand what he was trying to tell me. It was a bizarre situation.”

if a veteran like janssen doesn't know what is going on then that says alot - hopefully the new strategies will prove to be what they were missing and a more aggressive style will suit them well
