Oh, the silly things humans do

That's just crazy Radio. Did it look gang-related or something?

I also stumbled across this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11...-enclosure.html

Why would anyone jump in there and ... swim towards the bears?

Perhaps she wanted to give them a bottle of Coke.

nah, they like Coke; probably trying the ol' taste taste with Pepsi :D

Haha, nobody said they were smart. Although attacking the cheese eating surrender monkeys' (to quote Jeremy Clarkson) Navy was probably the best choice of all of the Navies to attack.

It's a bit ironic how Americans have come to resent the French, yet without French assistance there would be no United States. Or the fact that one of the most iconic symbols of the US, the statue of liberity, was a gift from the French.

The revolutionary war help came from before the French revolution, things have gone progressively down hill since then.

but you could also say without America's help, there would be no France.. to a certain extent.

WW2, France, and the United States for 1000points anyone?

Zach

The British were right there with the French getting their asses kicked by the Germans. It if wasn't for Herman Goerings desperate need to try out his new toys in the Luftwaffe the British army would have been eliminated at Dunkirk and the Britsh would likely have had to sue for peace (in other words surrender with terms). No one was really ready to deal with the Nazi's. As for France, they have a quite storied military history which includes a lot more ass kicking than that of the United States. We didn't do any better in Vietnam for the record. Sure, the modern French army isn't exactly what it used to be, but then again it's not like the Bundeswehr is on par with the Wehrmacht either and we aren't going after the Germans for being pussies.

The British were within a few weeks of going bankrupt and losing the war, that's partly why they adopted the "Europe first" policy.

I was backing up the post above mine. There would be no France if the US had not stepped in in WW2.

there would be no british if there were no canadians on a more minor scale ;)

Canadians get no credit. Half of New Brunswick alone went off in regiments and fought, yet do you ever hear of the Canadians? Its a shame to think at one point the Canadian military was not just a joke.

So a nation and a culture that had existed for more than a thousand years by the time WW2 hit Europe would have ceased to exist because it was occupied by the Germans? That's very silly from almost any prespective.

yep gotta agree there...canadians went the furthest distance on d-day is a fact not many people know =P

Juno was not nearly as heavily dended as Utah or Omaha, it's not like they went through the defenses like a hot knife through butter. Obviously that is not meant to minimize their accomplishments, just put their progress in perspective with the massive loss of life playing out on some of the other beach heads.
