We've even gone 6 and 2 a few times when we've only had 8 show up. It actually works out better than going 5 and 3 because it keeps the forwards fresh and that can make up for the 2 D getting a little winded here and there.

I won a roller championship (5v5) one season playing only 2 D the entire season.  Not the same, and it was a long time ago.  But if you have forwards that can help the D out and keep them from running around too much, it can work.

Wife decided to not listen to me.. again... and decided it was a good idea to let her brother in law say with us for Thanksgiving and bring his dog.  My dog is 10 years old and has never had a another dog in the house.  This was doomed to failure and I am beyond stressed because my dog keeps barking and his dog keep whining and this is not going well.  Maybe my wife will learn to listen to me now... what the fuck am I saying... I know she won't.

Left last night.  Never even said thank you or good bye.

Costs:

Carpet ripped up and stained, comforter destroyed, quilted blanket destroyed, dog stressed, Thanksgiving ruined.

Brother in law now banned for life.

What a D-CK.

Time to mail them a "thank you" package.  Perhaps a box filled with dog crap

I pay for NHL.TV subscription because I like how things are organized and presented to me. Kind of like Hulu or Netflix. Price perhaps a bit high, but if you are real sports fanatic, you'd pay double that, so I get the demand/supply part of this. Once you pay the subscription. getting locked out of some games is pretty rediculous, but I see how networks can demand that and NHL has to agree. I am glad however that NHL seems to do a bare minimum enforce the geolocation thing.

Yeah, it's super easy to get around thankfully.

I think you're missing a word in there.

I won a Sparx sharpener on EBay at the beginning of November.  It took the seller almost a week to ship, and another 5 days to get. Totaling 11 days from purchase to receipt. That’s not horrible, but not great either. When I opened the box, I found that they hadn’t installed the travel support, nor included the alignment ring. That made the machine pretty much useless.

I contacted the seller about the alignment ring the day I got the machine. They said they found it and would send it the next day. I waited another 10 days and no ring. I contacted them again, they said they sent it earlier in the week. Another week and the envelope finally shows up today. I say envelope because it was empty. There had been an alignment ring in it, you can see marks on it. But since the seller only used a plain regular envelope (also meaning they didn’t send it until earlier this week), the ring had torn through the paper and is since long gone. So now I have to order one from a Sparx, which is fine. But my skates need a cut and I’ll either have to pay $10 for a sharpening while I have a machine sitting here, or wing it the best I can to get it aligned.

Howdy,

Just got back from a 7 day caribbean cruise out of NY this evening.  My wife, 10 year old, and me.

The good bit is that they seemed to have an ok time.

As for me, basically I'll summarize as "I spent $4k to learn that I never, EVER, want to go on a cruise".  Holy crap did that suck.  Trapped on a boat jammed together with 4k people in a floating Vegas Casino.  Noisy and crowded everywhere, at every hour of the day.  Oh, and for the first time ever in my life managed to get motion sickness.  Which is still fucking me up even now, ~12 hours after I got off the damn thing.

There were some good parts.  Two of the onboard restaurants were nice, seeing the Kennedy Space Center was cool, and riding a Segway for the first time in Nassau was fun.  But that good stuff pile is pretty small compared to all the crap in the "holy fuck, I PAID for this?" pile.  Now I'm sitting here at home with the weebly wobbles or whatever the hell and I'm wondering if I'm going to even be able to skate tomorrow.

And I missed fucking Winterfest for it too.

Tell your friends:  Cruising.  Not even once.

You apparently picked the wrong cruise package.  I've been on a couple, and they were nothing like you described.

Cruises are definitely not for me, for the reasons you mentioned. I don’t like being around people for too long, and I can only tolerate about 6 hours of Las Vegas so the whole casinos/shows/etc thing doesn’t do it for me.

A lot also depends on the cruise line and the time of year you go.  I typically try to avoid base-fare 3 day cruises and cruises around Spring Break, for the aforementioned type of crowd.

JR is dead on. Most of the time when people find out they hate cruising what it really means is they hate that particular cruise line. Different lines cater to different clienteles and the secret to enjoying one is to first know what you want/don't want in a cruise and select the line based on those likes/dislikes. Like any other vacation planning, a little research goes a long way and as much as online is killing the industry, working thru a travel agent can save some headaches in finding what fits your tastes.

Yeah, that makes sense.  This was on the Norwegian Breakaway.  7 day Bahamas cruise out of NYC.  Not a base cruise, no real spring break feel.

I will admit to the possibility that another cruise might be better, but the primary ways I can see improving on this one would be cut the # of people and the general volume level of everything to 1/4 of what it was.  And after that, I'd still have the "not enough time in the port", "can never see any of the actual ship stuff", "motion sickness", "dry land sickness", etc. etc. etc.

We went on a cruise not knowing if they'd be for us.  Per your experience and others, some folks love them.  Turns out I don't.  I didn't put enough weight on the whole "casino/show/eat all the time/drink/nightclub" stuff vs. the "on a ship in the middle of the ocean" part.  I was interested in the latter.

If you wanted to spend more time in port then I'd recommend trying a NY to Bermuda itinerary. Those generally give you a day or two at sea each way and then 3 days/2 nights docked at Bermuda. If you're looking for less glitz then you'd need to step up a couple of rungs on the cruising ladder to Princess/Celebrity/Holland. Every step you go up in price you lose in riff raff on board.

If I'm ever forced to go on a cruise again, I'll keep that in mind.  :-)
