Why are people such douches when you wear an opposing teams sweater to a game? I could understand if I was acting like an ass but it is pretty ridiculous. I hope the Pens go back to being terrible so the bandwagon fans go away and I dont have to deal with it.

i saw the rangers take on the caps almost three years ago at msg (when brashear fought shanny). it was an amazing game, i almost cried at the end because of the emotion and passion those fans had for the game (the goal song (which i got to hear something like 5 times), the timed chants, "sweet caroline" and how the crowd kept singing after the music stopped and play commenced, the crazy dancer in the nose bleeds, etc etc) and dude... there was a guy wearing an ovy jersey a few rows ahead of us, and we were surrounded by blue shirts. they were ABUSING this guy (some fans had their kids involved), and he was taking it... then he turned around and challenged a bunch of the fans, threats started being thrown around and all of a sudden this one rangers fan goes up to him and points to the exit. he says "just leave before they get you" and the guy leaves.... the whole section applauded. it was amazing. no security/hosts involved.

coming from vancouver, where all you see in the lower bowl is suits, jet set™ escorts and dudes with aston martins wearing leather jackets and paying $40 to valet at gm place, blackberries and the mascot macking on hot socialite women, and a fuckin inflatable whale dropping lame coupons from sponsors, it was great to see some PASSION and real fans, as opposed to people who were there because its the place to be seen.

i dont condone bullying, and i certainly dont partake in it, but it made me realize what being a fan meant.... fanatic. whether or not the team is in vogue doesn't really matter, showing passion/support/loyalty to your team is part of the thrill.

That's just being an abusive asshole, it has nothing to do with supporting your team.

can you speak to the passion and life long dedication to teams that hardcore soccer fans in europe have?

thats what i witnessed at madison square garden.

dude got razzed for wearing another teams jersey. it's almost to be expected.

The same fans that have been banned from traveling because of their rioting? Great example there.

there was a guy wearing an ovy jersey a few rows ahead of us, and we were surrounded by blue shirts. they were ABUSING this guy (some fans had their kids involved), and he was taking it... then he turned around and challenged a bunch of the fans, threats started being thrown around and all of a sudden this one rangers fan goes up to him and points to the exit. he says "just leave before they get you" and the guy leaves.... the whole section applauded. it was amazing. no security/hosts involved.

Your description here implies a lot more than a little "razzing" and I have witnessed similar acts from "fans". It's mob mentality and behavior that happens any time you can find a way to isolate individuals from the larger group. The fact that it is endorsed and encouraged by some teams is just sad.

waking up extremely hungover and looking at your bank account and figuring out you spent $220 at the bar the night before.....

Did that this past April during a tourney in Charleston. It sucks, but I guess it's the price you pay for getting that drunk.

Not everyone starts buying shots of Kettle One "for all their new friends" after the 8th drink.

I've had one of those- went back in the next day to figure out what I did, turns out it was poor handwriting on the bill and I spent $65.20 not $652. Fun night though.

I hate it when fans decide to wear jerseys that have nothing to do with the teams that are playing that night's game.

For example if the game is a Thrashers-Capitals outing, I shouldn't have to see Modano, Gomez, or any other teams' jersey in the stadium. However if they have a Knuble Flyers jersey, or a Antropov leafs jersey it is somewhat acceptable. But still go out and buy a new jersey.

i dont miss those days.

my worst ever was $1200. what put me way over the top was that i made the mistake of hiring a cab driver to wait for us outside an after hours bar, and he did.... waited for 5 hours with the meter running and charged my visa.

So people can only be fans of the two teams playing and not of the sport of hockey as a whole? I've been to a lot of games when my favorite team wasn't playing because I love the sport.

Yea, I have no problem with it. When I went to the Wings/Capitals game a couple weeks ago and there was a couple next to us who was in town and decided to go to the game, they knew nothing about the Wings or Caps but jumped out of his seat and cheered when the wings scored!

I've been to many a game that didn't involve my two fave teams (Pens/Thrash), but I didn't wear a Thrashers or Penguins jersey to those games. I have a problem with ppl who come to games and wear a jersey (whalers/nords/jets okay by me) who's team is not playing the game.

If that bothers you, please see a doctor and get properly medicated.

I don't have a problem with that, per se, but I have never quite understood why folks do it.

Only time I ever did it was my MSH jersey at a game in Nashville
