Anything going on up in Seattle?

Looking for a new shop to visit. I like to hit a new one in the cities I visit.

welcome to seattle. my girlfriend is from here and so i spent some time there this summer and actually just flew out here yesterday. as far as my limited experience, i checked out Highland Rink. we dropped in for an open skate and were on the second rink. I have never skated on worst ice in my life. it was bummy, dirty, and awful. the boards were made out of wood. the main rink looks nice though. as far as a pro shop, they had a small one that actually was kinda cool because they had a lot of old stuff. http://www.highlandice.com/default.htm is the link. Im headed up to vancouver on tuesday for the canucks game though. only a 50 dollar bus ride up.

Welcome to Seattle. Unfortunately, the largest shop is going out of business: http://www.firstlineprohockey.com/

Highland, as mentioned above, has a pretty cool shop because of the older equipment. The ice, on both main and small rinks is a deathtrap. Avoid this rink unless you have no other choice. The other rinks in the Seattle 'area' include the following, listed from South to North:

- Tacoma Ice Rink (Puget Sound Tomahawks play here. Jr. A III)

- Kent Valley Ice Center http://www.kentvalleyicecenter.com/

- Showare Center (Seattle Thunderbirds play here) http://www.showarecenter.com/

- Castle Ice http://castleice.com/wordpress2/

- Kingsgate Arena http://kingsgatearena.com/default.aspx

- Highland Ice Arena http://www.highlandice.com/

- Olympic View (Seattle Totems play here. Jr. A III) http://www.olyview.com/

- Lynnwood Ice Center http://www.lynnwoodicecenter.com/

- Comcast Arena Everett/ Everett Events Center (Everett Silvertips play here) http://www.comcastarenaeverett.com/

As far as I know, Tacoma no longer has a proshop. Kent Valley used to be one of ours, Firstlineprohockey, we left, and they have a makeshift shop with horrible sharpening. Showare is the Thunderbirds arena, so mostly just team memorabilia stores. Castle Ice also used to be one of ours, same thing as Kent Valley here. Kingsgate was one of ours as well, we left, and now there is nothing there. Highland has an older shop. Olympic View has a pretty good shop. Recent stuff with good sharpening. Lynnwood has a little hole in the wall shop. Decent sharpening. Everett has mostly team memorabilia stores.

Any other questions, feel free to PM me. Cheers.

Is there a rink closer to olympia than Kent? I'm gonna be in Washington for the summer and it seems like the closest rink to where I'll be there. I'm frankly overjoyed there is anything within even an hour of where I'm living anywhere in the PacNW but just wanted to check with the boards.

There is Puget Sound in Tacoma, I don't know what they have going on there though, I have never been. There would also be Sprinker near McChord AFB, but it is closed this season for renovations.
