Chadd, if that is so, then why is it often suggested that weight, among other things, should be considered when picking out a skate?

Chadd, if that is so, then why is it often suggested that weight, among other things, should be considered when picking out a skate?

Because a lot of people think stiffer is automatically better. You need stiffness around your foot and up to your ankle. Above that, too much stiffness can cause lace bite and restrict your skating motion more than it benefits you. The excess stiffness is why you see so many people with lace bite issues.
