The Dallas Stars continued to load up this offseason by signing one of the top free agent forwards available, Alexander Radulov, to a five-year contract worth $6.25 million per season.

The $31.25 million price tag is the largest contract signed in free agency this summer. NBC Sports - NHL

I heard on the NHL's radio station that MTL offered Rads a similar contract. The issue was that with greater tax liability in Montreal, $6.25M AAV in Dallas would be approx. $8.25M in MTL to get the same after-tax cost. It will be interesting to see how Hitch and Rads work with each other.

Some of these long term contracts are going to be painfully regretted in a couple years. This one comes to mind.  And the long term deal for Alzner to Montreal is baffling.

We're due for another lockout soon so I wouldn't worry too much about them.
