Did Pens really just rolled over or Islanders are actually playing some impressive hockey? Playing responsible and structured hockey us not overachieving. Trotz is showing here that an ok team + structure can win against what-baby-wants-baby-gets team. Not saying that Pens are done by any means, but they need start grinding if they want to see past this series.

Pens played up and down a lot this season.  Had a great last month and a half except the last week they lapsed into the downside.  Isles are clogging it up but really exploit mistakes.  So a combination of both, Pens have another gear or two but there is no guarantee they can get there.

Howdy,

Well, I don't think anyone saw the Pens getting blanked in this series, but at this point its hard to see how it goes any other way.

Islanders were never an overachieving team to begin with. They are built very well, particularly with the type of depth that can shine at this point in the season, and have great coaching. I’m not surprised the series is going this way, although I thought the penguins would put up more of a fight

It was sad watching the fans leaving the arena after 3rd goal... Pens and their fans are eating humble pie now... Could be too late with something like 400:1 against them winning the series after today.

Murray cannot, no matter how many great saves he makes, give up that short side goal.  It is a soul-sucking mistake.  And Simon has to go.  Guys like Hornvist and Pete Rose take limited talent and wo k thei tails off for success.  Dominick Simon represents the exact opposite.

You have Recchi and Martin in the room.  Most accounts dont point to Sullivan as a figurehead.  And they got beat last year by thr SCC, they didn’t lay an egg.

I think people forget that the Islanders gave the Pens a good run for their money last year. Yes, they are with Johnny T, but NYI has the right mix of skill and effort. Couple that with the reality the Pens bank on neutral ice being wide open, the Islanders have their number.
