Got a message from my parents on 31 Dec, that my grandmother had passed away. She was 95. That was the last day she was going to spend at the old folks home. My parents were going to move her to a hospice the following week so that she could receive more specialised care. The doctors had already thought that she had another year max to live, but her health was deteriorating fast. The last time I saw her, in my heart I felt that it would be the last time I would see her. She didnt recognise me then, and wasnt answering any of the questions I had asked her. I live in Australia, while my parents and her are in Singapore. I wanted to fly back, but my dad told me that her wish was for her grandchildren like myself to not return as it was a big inconvenience. Yesterday was Day 7 after her passing, and in the Asian culture (and I think others as well) there are beliefs that the recently passed would always try to communicate with you. I got a message from my mum that a large brown and white moth had landed in her balcony. And to which I recalled seeing a brown and white butterfly in our yard yesterday.... and we never have butterflies in our yard. I remember it flying around me a couple times before flying off. When I told my wife about the picture my mum sent me of the moth, my wife said she had also seen a brown and white butterfly in the garden at church (two blocks away). I told a colleague of mine about it, and she told me that these things happen, where the recently passed tries to tell those they have left behind that they are loved. And she also told me that I didnt have to fly to Singapore, as my granny flew to me instead. RIP Mama... I love you.

I went to an All Star game and a roller hockey game broke out.

Wow those blades have some substance. How is the forward flex of the boot? The white area on the heel , looks like it' between the tuuk and the boot. Is that a spacer?

The NLS line was a late summer, early fall release in 2016.

Didn’t get a chance to actually use it on ice, but it looks/feels like another winner from Warrior. Very much looking forward to giving it a shot. Love the QRL line

Finally got my hands on a Isles shell. Brand new CCM. Can’t wait to get on the ice with it.

Aside from the design, which I'm not a big fan of, can someone figure out why they insist on keeping the fake collar ties? And then why they would put them so far beneath the collar where, if they were real, they wouldn't actually do anything? I know back when they came back in style the collars were made to work with them, then they went to fake ties but at least they were still in the right spot, but now Adidas puts them in an asinine spot... wtf?!? might as well just put them on the sleeve at this point since it wouldn't be any less out of place than it is now. ok, sorry for the rant, it has just bothered me for quite a while haha

The only way to reduce concussions is to either change the rules or learn to play with your head up. Unfortunately for the helmet companies, they can't charge for that. So they try to suck you in with highly marketed foam schemes. To prove my point, I would put half the NHL in this 5 star ccm bucket, half in vintage Jofa Gretzky lids. I would predict you have fewer concussions with the Jofa, Why? Because the Jofa guys would be more vigilant because the Jofa doesn't protect much.

You're gonna need a REALLY big helmet for that!!! Like several FEET in diameter!!

Getting laid off. Wouldn’t mind being on the hunt for a new job but my wife was also laid off right before Christmas. Crappy situation all around.
