I have been reverse-engineering how to build a goal stick. The process looks to be pretty straight-forward: get a shaft, make a core for the paddle and blade, join the shaft and paddle, then laminate the paddle and blade. The donor shaft is tapered, since those are longer than standard and I can affix the blade into the shaft. This may be clunky, or it may work fabulously. We will see... Stay tuned...

First off, why would it be designed to fit for other brands? It's a Bauer tool. Secondly, it is extremely easy to glean the information that the scanner provides and apply it to another brand. Hell, just match the colors for the most part. To the OP - to match the Supreme 7000, you'll most likely have your best success in a Vapor.

Now I was waiting for the pun! Not offended AT ALL. Gotta be able to take a joke in this cruel world!

Is it cool to make a "wow, what a shitty situation" joke or nah? (kidding. That's rough. I hope there are not as many stories like this in your future as you think!)

That was the joke, I have Bauer Supreme 7000s from like 15-20 years ago, not the Nexus. It was just funny because the salesman was probably 3 years old when I bought my current skates.

Had a similar issue in the Jetspeeds, might I I suggest trying the Tacks line. My last 3 pairs of Bauers have been Vapors so I thought Jetspeed would be the CCM fit for me but the Tacks worked the best. Went from a Vapor X800 (2015 line) to Tacks 9090.

I like the 37.5 shirts... but Bauer/CCM charges WAY too much for base layer. When I can order Adidas or Nike base layers that work as good if not better (so far Adidas Techfit shirts are the best for staying cool) for 1/3rd of the price it isn't worth it.

Well just an update on my progress since my first season last year... I got my new/old gear from GGSU at Xmas time and everything fits well, most importantly, the catcher actually catches pucks haha. In late Jan/ Feb I got asked to fill in for our summer league playoffs as a few goalies were out. I played for one team in the first group and went 2-1 but didn't make it through. Then in the final series one goalie went down and I got called up again and went 3-2 and won the cup! , Boy was I nervous, my team was better but their goalie was on form and it went the distance (5 games series) It really helped my confidence knowing I could hang with some better players than what I will face in Winter We're currently half way through Winter league and although my team is has a couple of better players than last season, I've also improved heaps. My current record is 7-0-1 with 1.14 GAA and .931% we're coming second to a team who have let in 11 goals in 11 games! We've played them twice and tied 2-2 and just last weekend we won 3-1 that was an awesome game form our guys. I've even lost my nerves and don't need a beer beforehand anymore, I can just enjoy the game now. But sometimes will still have a beer, because why not 😉

Honestly I prefer used skates for young kids. New lower to mid end good too. Anything stiff is a waste anyway. I have 2nd young skater at home and had zero complains regarding used skates. Older plays competetive and he got good skates. Upgraded blades and insoles. Still. Skates are neccessary element. Important. But more expensive skates will not make kid skate better. 🙂

Cut the underside of my thumb on my table saw yesterday. Pretty bad. Lost quite a bit of tissue. There wasn’t anything left to stitch and close the wound. So it’s going to be a long healing process. Maybe a month. Most frustrating thing is I just got cortisone shot for my SI joint and was feeling good. Guess I won’t be skating for a couple weeks at the earliest.

I examined one yesterday. They are very different to the old ones. The plastic is black, and at least twice as thick, maybe more, which presumably improves durability. Also they have a thin layer of padding on top, apart from the front toe area, which should improve comfort, although mine are very comfy. My only concern is that the increased thickness will reduce the skate depth, which might make lace bite more likely, hopefully not. Other than that, I’m sure they will be good. I’m a huge fan of the originals even though my first pair only lasted 1 year.

Injected lacing system is probably cheaper in manufacturing as they'd skip the eyelets riveting step as well as the cost of eyelets. I personally think, injected system looks a bit more modern and sporty, but IMO It does exactly zero for the actual skater.
