I believe he means a padded V shape on the inside of the tongue and a more rigid C shape on the outside sort of like this cross-section of a tongue expertly drawn in MS paint.😄

Different feature sets. Vapor will have the asymmetric quarter, the Recoil tongue, the injected eyelets, the Aerofoam liner, etc. that are in the Vapor line now. The Supreme has the flexible tendon guard, the Reflex tongue, the symmetric quarter, more traditional eyelets, better wrap on the foot, and other Supreme features. This is being done so that the type of skate you can get is no longer solely determined by the fit you need.

The pinky and ring finger are innervated by nerve roots C7 and C8. Can make an argument the C5 and C6 was causing the shoulder symptoms, but not at all when it comes to the fingers. Also, the fact that the medrol dose pack did nothing to alleviate your symptoms is alarming. Honestly, you really need an MRI ASAP with your constant radicular symtoms and weakness. Likely the only reason they're having you do a month of conservative treatment first is because your insurance likely won't authorize the test without it.

You were right, I tried a test fit last night with everything, and there is full coverage with overlap. I'm having a hard time with the goalie pants feeling a bit big though. I'll see if I need to swap them for a medium or something (this is something I experience in player gear too, I'm right in between a Medium and a Large). Just need those Skates and Stick and then I'll be ready.

VT testing is insufficient for hockey. I appreciate them trying, but until they change their testing methods their ranking are essentially useless.

I'm ocd when it comes to skates and sticks lol. Didn't help when I had edge holders for that short time. Since using the an 4.0s the last year I haven't had to worry about loose steel and the rivets have all been solid so far.

To be clearer, I should have said he *had* a lot of volume in his skates. It of course is eliminated when he tightens them. But as far as a portion of his foot sticking out of the skate and failing the pencil test, I would imagine he would ace that because he has so much wrap.

Skate tongues are typically pretty pliable and form to the shape of your shin. I wouldn't think a V versus a U would make much of a difference.

Part of the problem with “skates should fit X sizes down from your street shoe” is that we can’t know how people’s street shoes fit them. Given the wild sizing inaccuracies you see in hockey skates, I can’t imagine the discrepancies in shoes, seeing as they are softer and more forgiving and even easier to wear too large or small.
