Pretty solid job by the NHL coming up with a plan and executing on it. That was a really cool tournament.

If you're fine with locked thumbs and love the 11K cuff then I'd just stick with 11K/HG12/HG14's. They're very nice gloves.

Kiddos to the NHL for pulling this off. Yes, it sucks not having fans in the stands but as a hockey nerd, I really enjoyed the competition shown throughout the Bubble Hockey Tournament. Good on TB for winning the Stanley Cup again as a "small market" team.

Winnwell/Cooper/Bauer SK2000 are the best! I had an old one from my Dad that I wore until the interior padding was so hard/yellow/disgusting it was dangerous and leaving flakes in my hair. SK600 is dusty, but Gretzky wore one in his youth, so gets a pass. A good quality Cooper SK200 helmet &/or the Gretzky bucket. Classic Jofa/RBK Elbows that nearly everyone wants, can't find, and pros still wear (7k Pro?). Totally biased opinion: I'm ok with "updated for modern play", but for something like shoulders I hate the huge bulky midsections/breast-plate, collar, and weigh-adding features. Like instead of super light plastic shoulder caps they wrap the cap in foam and material that is heavier and absorbs heavy moisture on the ice. I would prefer a classic look, and "updated materials for beer league performance". Like Erik Karlsson's frankenstein Eagle shoulders with Bauer Vapor caps: Mobile, light, only protective where they need to be and "classic". Not just slapping a retro name on low-end gear.

Yeah I agree. I never had an issue with locked thumbs. But the surgeon cuff is very different from the 11k. The Dynasty ax1s were decent after the franchises, but it don't think the alphas are the same quality. Also, I definitely feel like there warrior pro stocks are a bit larger than marked. I wear Eagles for a long time now, but pretty much the only glove I would leave Eagles for is the 11k/HG12/14. If I could find a pair of leather 11ks I'd probably be wearing those, but the only ones I've ever seen are Crosby that are like 600+. Fine for collectors, but I wouldn't play in $600 Crosby gloves. (Although it did cross my mind recently to restore my old Easton gx9500 Modano pro stocks with new gussets and palms and see if I could find someone to split the finger pads from one piece to two piece). I looked into custom or pro stock coverts and was just not impressed with the protection. Don't get me wrong, if you have money to burn then be my guest, but if you're looking for comparable quality to 11ks you won't find it apart from CCM pro stock and maybe Sher-Wood and STX for cheaper options.

Good to know. I do love the cuff. It’s protective yet doesn’t restrict like my retail QRLs I sold. I don’t like flex thumbs much (well I don’t even notice them on the one pair of HG97 that have them) so it doesn’t matter to me. I may cut the loops on my pens HGTKPP though as the loop isn’t nearly long enough or something.

I agree that the 11k/HG12 gloves are great. The only thing I personally don't love is that a lot of them don't come with a flex thumb (which is why you see a lot of cut thumb loops). If you really don't need the flex cuff, but want to try something new that has a tight fit in the fingers and backhand, but opens up in the cuff and has a flex thumb; I highly recommend Pro STX Surgeon 500 gloves; there are a few available at reasonable prices on SLS. Otherwise, I'd just stick to 11k's, but would personally look for a pair with a flex thumb (there are some pro stock 11k/HG12 that do have the flex thumb).

I remember back in PeeWee a teammate of mine had the black Easton aluminum (Senior). A player from another team in our league came into our room to chat and picked up this black Easton and flexed it and it snapped in half. Needless to say my teammate gave him a pretty dirty look, but they aren't indestructable. I had a Bauer Supreme aluminum (dark grey with blue lettering) at the time I thought it was the coolest looking stick around. There was a used one for sale at my LHS and I badgered my father to buy it. Anyways he did and I think I used it for all about two games. The thing was an absolute tank, it weighed a ton, awful feel, no flex at all. If there ever was a stick that was practically rebar this was it.

Howdy, For sure. When this whole thing started, I figured it was 50/50 that some team would be eliminated because 8 players got the virus or whatever. Not only didn't that happen, but no positive test at all? Crazy. I'm curious if they had any positive test for any of the hotel/service staff. Those folks weren't bubbled, right? Really nice that they were able to pull this off. From a fan perspective, it honestly was pretty great. Really feel bad for the players who won the cup that weren't able to have their families join them on the ice though. Mark

Yea this whole game I was thinking it felt like the kings in 2014 where it was pretty clear the rangers weren’t even in the same ballpark and you just knew it was a matter of time. Congrats to the lightning, well earned!

Yea, I bought a GELSTX a couple of months back due to me "staying away" from the rink until further notice. Definitely heavier but, as mentioned early, the stick is well balanced. Since I've been working from home, I'll take just a couple of minutes during my lunch break to do some simple stickhandling. In just that short time both forearms experience a healthy burn (especially my top hand = my non-dominant hand). It will be interesting to see when I use a normal stick again haha.

For a while I was using a wood stick outdoors. The weight made going back to a composite stick on ice feel like I was holding nothing. I was just using it for stickhandling, not shooting though

Yeah, I used to be a catcher and am double jointed in my glove hand thumb. Every once in a while I would catch it wrong or get a foul tip and my thumb would really get beat up, not fun at all.

I would want a modern one-piece Sherwood Rekker stick but painted with PMP 5030, feather image, and SHER-WOOD using the old-fashioned font on it. The name LECLAIR on it for curve designation too instead of PP##.
