I remember they pretty much put Coffey on everything. You'd have different curves on the same rack of 5030s all marked Coffey. I remember they also used to have a "BC" and "SC" stamped on them and I thought that meant "Big Curve" or "Small Curve". I don't think things were as standardized back then.

Do you still have any of your son's previous shoulder pads that he may have grown out of? Or just a pair that you're not using anymore? You could remove the chest or back pieces and stitch them to his current pads. Failing that, check for used pairs in decent shape. With a little handiwork or service from a skate shop (or cobbler if that's not an option) you could have extra protection at little cost.

Definitely not. But it didn't matter, since you took a blowtorch to your stick the minute you got it home anyway (or at least I did). Stock curves were for benders!

I saw an interesting observation that Adam Oates had Barzal and McDavid switch to a P92-ish blade to start the season. In the past couple of games they've both switched back to their normal curves. If you take a look at Getty Images at the start of the year you can see that versus the last couple of nights.

On some of the gloves I have with a locked thumb I take them to a leather repair guy that will cut the loops and add a small amount of material to lengthen the thumb about 1/2" which gives me all the mobility I need.

I forgot that Crosby came into the league hosing a wooden blade. Somewhere in my house I have one of his ugly gold rbk sick kick shafts with a Sherwood blade in it.

My first pair of Trues I didn't skip. My current ones I skip. I think it's mainly to do with the fact that for my second pair I used the saran wrap technique and it created way more wrap than my first. If I tie all the eyelets I felt I had no ankle flexion. If I tied the top two loosely it didn't feel locked in enough. So I dropped the top eyelet and kept the tension tight and I found the perfect balance.

My local store has it, but it was super "common sense" if you think about hockey at all. You grab a specific pre-labelled stick with the markings on it, take a few shots with it and the app figures out the 3 sticks it thinks you should be in. From what I was told, it simply recommends the same sticks people would if you give them information about your playing style. For example, using me as the example since I did it: 6'3, 220lbs Defense not a lot of slapshots, aimed a quick release. The stick recommended 85 Ribcor as 1st, then 85 Jetspeed as 2nd, then 75 Ribcor as 3rd. Which is what anyone listening to how I play would recommend. The only thing super helpful with it is if someone is using a stick that is way too stiff, the lack of flex in the stick would help show that off.

Howdy, When I was a kid, I was sure that the thumb loop was there to stick the end of the stick through. 🙂 Mark
