I, personally, prefer the same boot. One less thing to have to adjust to. That said, I also picked up a pair of TF9’s a few months back and absolutely love them

Bro.... Don't even. You came to the wrong place if you're gonna come here and knock wood end plugs...

Jumped on a deal for TF9s a few months back and put the R1s on them. Having been a Bauer guy for the last decade, I see what the True hype is about. Absolutely love these skates and how they feel. Seriously contemplating buying another pair and swapping out Tuuk holders for ice. An outdoor rink near me has had steady pickup roller going on recently and now that I'm vaccinated I've been trying to drop by more often. I normally play on rough asphalt and those wheels didn't offer enough grip. Got sick of swapping all the wheels back and forth every few days so decided to pick up an extra chassis making the swap so much easier/faster!

I'm in AS3 Pro's and love them. I'm skating 5-6 days a week and I used to alternate with 2xPro's which were a touch narrow but...with baking and punching worked fairly well. I sold them as I thought one pair would be fine. Well...I miss alternating with a more flexible skate (double hip replacement...less stress). My question is...before I just go after another pair of 2xPro's with a fit 2, should I consider True TF9's? If so...what size (7.5D AS3 Pro's fit like a second skin). Alternatively, would it be smarter to wait for an FT4 or 100k? If I do that I can share steel with my current skates but that's not essential. Looking forward to hearing your take on things. Sidebar: I still have my 1977 Super Tacks (from college), Supreme Comp 1000's and Comp 5000's. Not only did one of these skates weigh almost as much as a pair of these new ones but they were wet all season! Technology isn't always good, but hockey technology often is 🇨🇦🥅🏒👍😎

If the player already has a new pair and refuses to switch, don't force the issue. He may actually prefer a softer boot.

Agreed, although I have bags within the bag...helmet bag, laundry bag, shower bag, steel holder (kind of a bag), Tape bag.

I kinda love the identifier of having a bunch of weird black scrape marks on your car ceiling as being a “hockey car.” And, if anyone sees them they are probably lying on their back in my car, and then I’m like “yeah those are from hockey sticks. Let me tell you about my adult league stats.” BAM magic time.

All of it comes down to how far you want to go. It’s a much bigger lift to go premium steel on once per week skating. I firmly believe that a peewee, at least at a higher rep level, can tell the difference - though articulating it is a challenge. They’ve been skating long enough (7-9 years), and let’s face it, the kids today can execute skills that we (the older generation) weren’t even aware of when we were their age. You definitely don’t need it to play well, but will the better edges allow you to execute skating skills with better confidence, probably. pros of premium steel added height - last longer, better angle on sharp turns without bottoming out edge retention - less dings, dents, lost edges from board battles and other stuff less sharpening required Cons cost, especially with growing feet Again, your mileage may vary. Maybe my experience was excessively coloured by the steel used in youth skates, but I didn’t need a micrometer to notice an improvement.

I took a look. Save about $25 a pair if I decide to grab them.

I have received warranty replacement sticks from Warrior and Bauer in bubble wrap and plastic. So if it’s good enough for them, it’s probably good enough and the easiest way. And as far as the stick bag comment (yes, I realize it was like 4 years ago). I use a stick bag to protect my car, not the sticks. I don’t want tape and wax marks/residue all over the interior of the car.

If you want durability, but can compromise on skate pockets, the 851 can't be beat imo https://jrzglobalsports.com/hockey-bags

So these U-14 players not only know the difference but can feel a difference as well? Coming from someone who has a 12 year old, I find that extremely hard to believe. Yes, ccm steel is bad but going to Step for players that old is way overkill IMO.

I've found that the best (and cheapest) way to ship sticks is to go to USPS. Take 3 of their (free) Priority Shipping long boxes, tape, and ship.
